How much will suede boots give?

I’ve bought some suede boots which are a perfect fit and colour but are painfully tight on one of my ankles. This ankle is always swollen after a bad break years ago.
I love the boots and am loathe to return them but will they ever stretch enough to be comfortable- does anyone have any experience of this?

A shoe that is painful in the shop will be painful forever, and I believe this applies to online shopping as well. Sorry, return them .

Wear a really thick pair of socks and they should give, also heat them up before stretching with a hair dryer. A cobbler will stretch them if this doesn't work.

If one did expand to fit more comfortably over your ankle then would it not look weird next to the one that didn't expand? I think these bits are too be admired but returned.
