Mixing spf50 into day cream

EighteenPagesFrontAndBack · 26/01/2024 13:02

I picked up this spf50 day cream but it's too thick for my spot prone skin, so I've mixed a blob in with my go to day cream which doesn't contain any spf.

Will it still work? Sorry if it's a silly question.

You won’t be as protected if you mix it.

The simple answer to whether or not you can mix sunscreen with moisturiser is no. As a general rule of thumb, skincare products should never be mixed together because this dilutes the efficacy of the sunscreen.

You shouldn't be mixing them as per the PP but if you want to use it in gloomy weather the resultant lower spf protection will still be ok. Not in bright sun

mdinbc · 26/01/2024 19:06

It will still work, but not at SPF 50.

ObliviousCoalmine · 26/01/2024 19:56

It won't work enough to be the only spf you're using, no.

redheadsaregreat · 26/01/2024 21:22

Depends on how much you dilute it. You may end up with an spf 30 which would still be fine if you are not spending time in the sun 🌞

There are loads of better spfs for your skin type. Boots face ones are shite.

no, what you’re doing won’t work.

get a better spf!
