Anyone still buying Hush??

I remember a few years ago when we had a constant thread re Hush clothing - thinking Nana Jumper, Stella star jumper, star jeans, Tara dress.

I stopped buying Hush to some extent when it subsequently arrived in our local John Lewis as loved wearing clothes that everyone else wasn’t iykwim.

But despite this I still find most of my older and better wearing clothes especially pj’s are from Hush, in fact this evening I’m wearing and older pair of PJ’s with a grey hush Nana jumper ( very well worn) on top.

From their sale this last week I’ve actually ordered some Hoff trainers , a velvet jumpsuit, a cardigan and chunky knit jumper. All of which I’ve kept , which has to some extent made me fall in love with Hush clothing all over again.

Does anyone else still buy much from them?

I’m wearing a Hush dress right now, which I bought this season!

I don’t love all their clothes, though, and there are a lot of sweaters which contain mixed materials which I wouldn’t buy, even though I like the look of them.

Its definitely a website I would look at if I was looking for something new.

DillDanding · 25/01/2024 09:45

I still buy from Hush. I have many pairs of the joggers, many of which have holes in 🤨

I mostly stick to their loungewear lately - oversized T-shirts and sweatshirts. I bought far too many patterned long dresses over the last couple of years which no doubt will be very ‘out’ this summer.

I like a lot of the current dresses though, and I’m tempted by the Eloise slip dress, are they back? I was wearing these when I was at uni in the 90s!

dontcallmelen · 25/01/2024 10:13

Another one who was on the old hush thread waves to some familiar names.
never bought loads, usually in the sale the sizing is like a lot of places now though lot of it comes up really big, I did buy my dd some pyjamas & sweatshirts in the sale as she loves them, still have a couple of tops/T-shirts & a really nice cotton summer dress from a few years ago, I browse now & then but don’t buy regularly.

lindyloo57 · 25/01/2024 13:03

I just returned a navy short velour dress, I did love it but, on the john lewis website it wash at 40 on the dress label it said do not wash dry clean, so I thought if I do wash it and it shrinks I couldn't return it as the label says dry clean

lindyloo57 · 25/01/2024 13:10

I've just checked, they've took my review down as I mentioned the washing instructions, it's sold out but they changed the instructions to dry clean,

VenusClapTrap · 25/01/2024 13:27

I still buy their basic t-shirts, and the odd pair of trousers. But I went off the overall style.

Notellinganyone · 25/01/2024 13:30

I’ve got two Lycra tulip style skirts, one dark red and one black that I’ve had for years now and still wear. Not keen on current styles.

ilovecherries · 25/01/2024 13:59

I bought a lot of Hush a few years back, I was losing weight quite rapidly at the time and I found their stuff fairly forgiving for that. A lot of it (mainly leisure wear and cashmere jumpers) is still in regular use. I also bought some leather stuff which is still in great condition, and the flannel PJs.

Pozz · 25/01/2024 14:19

I used to be a Hush fan but same as many here it all became too samey and I lost interest.

I see people on this thread have moved on to Toast, Me&Em etc. I'm interested to know where else people go these days?

At 5'3" and with my new post menopausal shape I'm struggling to find good clothes. Any suggestions?

EllaPaella · 25/01/2024 14:49

I was a regular on the old threads as well. Haven't bought much at all from Hush over the last 2-3 years, only a few sale items here and there. There was a time it was my go-to place to buy clothes but I'm just not really feeling it anymore. Used to love Hush jeans but they haven't done anything 'new' for ages, it's all still the same old styles they've been doing for years.

INeedNewShoes · 25/01/2024 15:04

I've feeling a bit disappointed with them as I recently bought a replacement pair of a particular style of Hush joggers as my old ones wear a bit worn. The new ones are thinner. I'd much rather pay £5–10 more and have the same quality as previously.

purplemunkey · 25/01/2024 15:11

I used to buy loads. Quality started to become hit and miss for me though. Also, their sizing is mad - runs really big. Got fed up of getting excited by things and then sending them back in disappointment.

NewYear24 · 25/01/2024 15:26

Nah I’m over Hush now, I’ve recently lost a lot of weight and I associate it with being bigger. I gave all my joggers away and have kept my sweatshirts for around the house.

I have a denim jacket and some mid length skirts and I’m still debating what to do with them.

NewYear24 · 25/01/2024 15:28

That is the same for me, I’m only 5’ 1’’ so can only really buy from petite ranges, particularly for bottom halves. I used to love in midi dresses but I’m so over those now.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 25/01/2024 15:37

I buy quite a bit.

They have lovely pure cotton sweatshirts ( can’t wear polyester) and the joggers/yoga trousers are lovely and long. I’m 5ft 8 and they are a great length.

Sarvanga38 · 25/01/2024 18:34

Used to buy loads, but quality became dire - when they ruined the harems by making the fabric half the weight, that was me done. Was finding a lot of stuff very ‘same-y’, but I’m sure I’d have bought those harems forever if they’d stayed at their original quality.😆

GinandGingerBeer · 25/01/2024 19:00

Well hello- Smile I definitely don't buy as much as I used to but I still have a soft spot for Hush.
I recently bought a charcoal knitted dress in the sale and it's been worn a lot already. Great for dressing up and down.

I wasn't so successful with a leopard coat which was about 4 sizes too big.
I still like their pj's joggers and sweatshirts though- I mostly wfh so usually have something on from hush now I think about it! But those items are generally from the sale.

GinandGingerBeer · 25/01/2024 19:24

Already made a purchase and only been on the thread a matter of minutes! Grin
After posting above I went to have a look to see if the faux fur leopard coat had come into stock in a smaller size and it has.
Suspect it still might be big but worth a gamble!

DoveGreys · 25/01/2024 20:11

No, nothing recently. A few nice things in the past.

Except last week a “ star “ navy sweatshirt I bought in the sale. Looked awful so I returned it.

BIossomtoes · 25/01/2024 20:17

I live in Aime joggers. I’ve got four pairs on the go at the moment and tend to replace them when they wear out.

HillyHoney · 25/01/2024 20:31

I used to buy quite a bit from there but have definitely slowed down. Having said that, I have loads of their sweatshirts - they're always he right weight for me, and the fit just works. Some of them are ancient and have washed really well over the years. (I get some of them on Vinted.)

Other than that, I have a lovely metallic knit tube skirt that I bought this winter but not much else from there in.a while. I've never really liked their tops - bit a fan of long bell-sleeved polyester blouses and the like.

Actually I've just remembered I have very beloved teal/petrol corduroy dress that I wear a LOT in winter, and one of their mini shirt-dresses - is it maybe the Emmeline? Something like that. Like a PP I've been impressed at the resale value on Vinted and eBay too.

Nowadays I still look in JL at Hush and AND/OR, which is basically JL's own brand version of it. I also browse through Kin, maybe White Stuff, Anyday, Mango, and Whistles, but it's rare now that I find much I like! I usually have more luck in M&S 😳

DillDanding · 25/01/2024 20:33

I bought 4 pairs of Amie joggers in the pandemic and have lived in them when wfh. I shouldn’t be surprised that they’re all knackered with holes and broken zips at the ankles. I didn’t realise they still sold them! Going to order a few more.

Flibbertigibbettytoes · 25/01/2024 20:38

I had a period where I could rely on getting a couple of things for work each season but have found nothing this year. I'm a bit stuck on where to go. Was looking at me&em but it's £££ for polyester.

herewegoroundtheblueberrybush · 25/01/2024 20:44

It's hit and miss isn't it. When I've ordered things I have been upset by the poor quality but then again occasionally a piece will be just right. I often like the way their stuff is cut which is hard to find. Loose but not too oversized or preppy which cos can err on. It's up and down. I loved their sweatshirts but they ended up looking like dishcloths very quickly.

stringbean · 25/01/2024 20:48

So did their knitwear - I had a long grey cardigan from Hush which quickly bobbled really badly and had no warmth whatsoever. Quickly became relegated to housewear only as too scruffy to wear outside. Subsequently bought a 100% wool one from Me&Em sale which I'm wearing today, funnily enough - warm, cosy and not a bobble in sight. Although I will say the Hush denim shorts were fab.
