Aspinal Bag?

foxicology · 20/01/2024 14:24

What do you think of this bag please? I already have a large Aspinal summer tote and the quality is very good. I have just bought this one in the sale (it was reduced to £221 from £650) on the main Aspinal site. It is quite big but the trapeze style lets you pull it in at the top quite substantially and it doesn't look too bulky IRL. A bit undecided whether to keep or send back, but I think that's mainly because I have quite a lot of bags.

I love Aspinal too but I can't see a photo or link

lemonmeringueno3 · 20/01/2024 14:38

Sorry! Managed to miss your link!

It says £390 so do you have further discount?

foxicology · 20/01/2024 14:53

Yes @lemonmeringueno3 I ordered it on the main Aspinal site. It was £260 with a further 15% discount during the week, so £221.

I just linked to the JL site as it is still showing in the tan (which I bought) and on the Aspinal sale site it is only showing in black now.

I love it but then I’m a big fan of Aspinal. I have one of their slouchy bags that I use everyday.

GreatGateauxsby · 20/01/2024 14:56

It's a no from me it's TOO triangular.... I don't mind a folded side but this is too extreme

I find some of the aspinal bags a bit hit and miss but I am obsessed with my Lottie. Such a great bag!

This is MUCH nicer

The sides can fold out and then rectangular like the London one @GreatGateauxsby

It’s a lovely bag design- and size-wise, but if you already have other similar big bags and you have to ask MN, it’s probably not a keeper. Be honest - did you buy it mainly cos it was a good price or cos you love it and can imagine using it for at least 10 occasions in the coming months?

A good question to ask yourself is ‘what bag will I sell on/ put into storage/ stop using if I keep this and use it regularly?’ If it’s better than the options you already have, then keep it. If not, back it goes!

If you decide it’s not for you, could you return and then keep the £220 aside to put towards ‘the one’ when you find it?

foxicology · 20/01/2024 17:15

Thanks @ShangPie I think you have hit the nail on the head. I do really like the bag and the indecision is more that i have a couple of other large neutral Mulberry bags but I don't like them that much any more. I think Aspinal is much more understated. I think the answer is probably to sell the Mulberry ones and keep this one.

Then it's a yes from me assuming you don'tind an open bag (I don't)

This leather is so nice and chewy

I have three wallets, a document folder and several notebooks from Aspinall's. I have no particular loyalty to the brand, but I've always been very happy with the items I buy from there, so I go back.

I like that bag folded out, OP. I like an open bag - I can see why you like it.

I love it , but then I'm very fond (understatement) of Aspinal.

I bought this bag in black in their sale last winter. I loved it. But then found that each time I went to use it I came home up with a reason to use one of my existing bags. With only about three days of the return period left to go, I returned it as I realised that, for some reason, it just wasn't the one for me.
