SOREL - very confused can anyone help with sizing?

Hi All

I really want some SOREL shoes (kind of boot trainer hybrid) but I live somewhere where delivery and returns are expensive, so trying to make sure the size is right.

The SOREL guide seems to convert US size to EU differently to most charts. Has anyone used it, and was it good?

Also in general, any advice on size up or down, and what is the fit like for normal to wide feet?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I’ve got myself v confused

I have some Sorel sandals and boots - size 40 is a 6.5-7

Are you seeing that as an 8.5-9? As that is American sizing

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/01/2024 10:03

What UK size are you @Asiatoyork ?

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 20/01/2024 10:07

I read lots of online reviews before buying mine and went up a whole size as a result. Even having done that, they're quite snug tbh. I have quite wide feet though and a fairly high instep.

They're lovely boots fwiw!

TokyoSushi · 20/01/2024 10:10

They're lovely boots, I'm a 5 and have a 6, they're perfect but I definitely wouldn't want them to be any smaller. I'd definitely size up, maybe even a whole size, if they're slightly too big then you can wear thick socks but if they're too small then that's it!

Mumteedum · 20/01/2024 10:19

They're a bit narrow I think. Fine for me but I'm not a wide size. . I sized up half a size and they're v comfy. I usually buy a 7 in boots. These are 7.5 and spot on.

I’m a UK 7.5 in most shoes, UK 8 in running trainers and ordered a UK 8 in Sorel. They fit well length wise but are definitely narrower than other similar boots, so would keep this in mind if you require a wider fit.

i have sorel snow boots which i bought normal size and wear them with ski socks

theyre fine!

CopperLion · 20/01/2024 11:43

I can’t recall how to convert the sizing but agree you need to size up. I’m a small 9, bought a 9, and they are about half a size too small.

Asiatoyork · 20/01/2024 13:52

Thanks all. UK size I’m between a 5.5 and a 6. I have gone down a crazy boot shaped rabbit hole today!

I’m going to Japan in early April and want to pack light so looking for perfect waterproof shoes that look like trainers but are between trainers and boots height wise. Not too hot, not too cold. Ideally would only have that out for the whole trip.

I think I need to step away from the Google and go to bed, but I’ll resume tomorrow!

I didn’t size up, but I have narrow feet. I have longer boots and they are a bit wide for me, but much better than my last snow boots!

Mumteedum · 20/01/2024 14:15

I'd get 6.5 then. Mine are the whitney ones and quite warm but lovely

Asiatoyork · 20/01/2024 14:18

I was looking at the out and about 3

Hey,
Did you land up buying the Sorel shoes? Even I’m a 5.5-6 in normal shoes & running trainers so I’m very confused about the sizing for Sorel.

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 03/04/2025 19:58

A UK 6 is a US 8.5

Asiatoyork · 03/04/2025 21:11

I actually didn’t get them in the end, got some lighter waterproof trainers (onitsuka) for the trip I needed them for. Maybe next winter though, because I do still love them!
