Recommendations for really effective eye make up remover please

I just cannot find one which takes off all my mascara and eyeliner and always have panda eyes in the morning 🙈

I don't mind spending a bit of money but would prefer high street brand for ease of purchasing. I'd marginally prefer a cotton wool pad product as opposed to hot cloth cleaning but don't like creamy lotions - they make my eyes feel funny.

Any excellent product reviews welcome!

Estée Lauder is good. I haven’t found anything else that works without having to rub.

gingersnappz · 19/01/2024 07:37

I've always found cleansing balms do a really good job of removing mascara.

The Beauty Pie apricot one is the best I've tried but the M&S one is a close second.

Big tub of emollient ointment like Zerobase. Works perfectly, doesn't sting or dry the eyes out, no scrubbing at lashes - just rub in a small amount so it liquefied with your body heat, keep going, remove with a flannel soaked in hot water.

Costs under a tenner.

Coconut oil, cheap, natural and works very well!

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 19/01/2024 07:52

I really don’t get how using a cotton pad or cloth can remove all traces of makeup.

I wash my face with Clarins foaming cleansing mousse, not a trace left ever and I wear a full face of makeup and always have eye shadow, liquid eyeliner and lots of mascara

PrincessHoneysuckle · 19/01/2024 07:53

Baby lotion.trust me.

yikesanotherbooboo · 19/01/2024 08:13

I like a balm .

Floofydawg · 19/01/2024 08:14

I just use micellar water unless it's waterproof mascara, in which case Nivea do a good remover.

Cheeesus · 19/01/2024 08:15

Is your mascara waterproof? If so you need an oily/two layered remover. This sort of thing:

Balms are great. The Clinique Take the day off one is amazing. So mild on skin but removes everything with no scrubbing. Just rub on, add a little water to massage onto face and wipe gently away with cotton wool if that's what you prefer

Also consider getting some of those reusable make up remover pads like the Halo ones. They will remove a lot and then a cleanse afterwards will shift the rest.

rockwater · 19/01/2024 08:36

I use bio oil with a washable makeup remover pad (you can get them cheaply on amazon) they are meant to work just with water but I use oil as my face is dry

louderthan · 19/01/2024 11:17

Simple. Also this Superdrug one:

https://www.superdrug.com/make-up/makeup-remover/face-make-up-remover/b-eye-makeup-remover-100ml/p/805542?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclsrc=aw.ds&gadsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAADp4mz8VswoYcm0foGlKcQ8rpXaRg&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2KitBhCIARIsAPPMEhLLXMn8PP-jMtQ5mF1hri6Z6zCeCv4N8cca-7Qk8cQu00xFmqVXR24aAv0DEALww_wcB

If you want to spend a bit more the Clinique take the day off, but I don't think it's any better than the Superdrug one.

louderthan · 19/01/2024 11:18

Or baby oil.

Sparkletastic · 19/01/2024 11:42

Nivea Double Effect Waterproof eye makeup remover is the absolute business and cheap as chips.

CharlotteMakepeace · 19/01/2024 12:03

Vaseline. I use it for everything. It removed all make up in a swipe.

Funderthighs · 19/01/2024 12:16

I use Body Shop Cammomilr Cleansing Butter. It just seems to gently “melt” make up and mascara.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 19/01/2024 12:19

Garnier micellar water with the pink cap. Best one I’ve ever used and it’s super cheap, as it’s always on offer somewhere and you can buy a massive 700ml one.

I don’t get panda eyes ever. Especially since I’ve realised that I also need to close my eyes a little and wipe up so that I remove the mascara from the underside of my (not at all plentiful) eyelashes.

I use this also & it is fantastic & cheap. (I then wipe the eye area over with a damp cotton wool pad as it does leave some oily residue).

TeaMistress · 19/01/2024 13:16

Lush ultrabland. Absolutely lovely gentle cleanser and removes eye makeup completely

OutOfOrder67 · 19/01/2024 13:22

The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser

I second the camomile cleansing butter too, works a treat even on the heaviest of make up Smile

Thanks everyone, much appreciated- I'll work through them all cheapest upwards! Also thanks for reusable pad recommendations, I'll look into them

Just butting in here sorry, does emolinet remove all make up? I use E45 but just as a body, hand moisturiser.
