Hi I hate Baies and Rose but I like Ambre and Vanille and Benjoin. What would you recommend next?

Ooh narguile is honey, tobacco and spice which may be right up your street. Or try the santal.
I like 34 for a change, apparently it's named after the original store (34 boulevard st germain) and smells as if you've walked into the store and all the fragrances hit you at once !

Opopanax is my favourite- woody and musky but not too heavy and a hint of sweetness. Hard to describe but delicious.

I’m a proper Diptyque aficionado. Having a couple of posh candles about the house, makes me disproportionately happy. DH once bought me Mousses. It’s very much a leftfield option, probably one of the least popular fragrances. At first, I really didn’t like it, then I just couldn’t get my head around it and couldn’t stop sniffing it. However, after a few lightings, I got used to the smell and absolutely loved it. It’s supposed to smell of the woodland floor; a hint of petrichor, sharp and really quite funky.

I’d actually recommend going somewhere they are stocked to smell them.
I was at an airport and smelt tubereuse and despite it being nothing that I’d like on paper, it was head and shoulders above everything else for me. I’ve bought it three times now!
equally I tried baies coz people raved about it but it did nothing for me. Quite like feu du bois though, but then I’m into smokey fireside type scents normally.

I have similar tastes and was suprised how much I love feu du bois once lit, it's now one of my favourites. I blind bought santal and it was a disappointment for me personally.

im quite tempted by the cinnamon one but would rather smell it first. I’ve currently got Overose’s cinnamon roll and that’s gorgeous.

Noisetier is lovely.

But once you try a Cire Trudon, there is no looking back!

Coldilocks · 16/01/2024 12:19

The oranger one is lovely.

trying29 · 16/01/2024 15:06

Tuberose for me too. I equally wasnt completely sold on it in the shop, and used to prefer Figuier but ive bought Tuberose 3 times now, its fabulous.
I enjoyed the Oud one too

I LOVE figuier.

Chocolateteabag · 16/01/2024 19:53

Ooh Maquis for me - it's very Catholic Church incensey smell (I'm not catholic so maybe that helps?

PurpleWhirple · 16/01/2024 20:14

I had the advent calendar this year and have just finished burning the Sapin candle, which is possibly nicest thing I've ever smelled

flobott · 16/01/2024 20:33

Narguile is my absolute favourite. Feu de bois was lovely but very much a winter fragrance for me. I didn't like noisetier or Ambre because they weren't strong enough. The scents were lovely but my sense of smell is terrible.

I have the essence of JG room spray. I fell in love with the candle years ago but it can be hard to get.

flobott · 16/01/2024 20:33

@PurpleWhirple I've seen a lot of positive reviews for Sapin on Reddit
