I'm off on a cold weekend break to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks so want a couple of cosy jumpers. But don't want to spend much so I'm having a nosey on Vinted.
I'm finding what I'm after are in the men's section which is fine but I'm not sure how they'll fit.
I'm a large 16 at the moment and take an L in ladies. Would a men's medium fit do you think?

I wear a lot of men's clothes including jumpers. I'm a 20/22 so tend to go for an XXL in men's if that helps as a guide, although it very much depends on the individual brands of course, Seasalt men's clothes I only need an XL, for example. I also generally find men's jumpers are longer in the body and arms which suits me.

SeemaAunty · 14/01/2024 16:55

I have decent shoulders, neither swimmers or a pear, men's tops are still too long on my arms and baggy around my shoulders. My hip bones are wide and men's tops tend to be narrow on my lower stomach/upper hips.
As a petite hourglass I look bad in oversized jumpers so for me, it's a no.

If you have narrow hips, wide shoulders and tall they might fit you fine.

Plump82 · 14/01/2024 17:00

I have neither narrow hips, wide should or am I tall 😂 I also have fairly short arms. Maybe men's wouldn't be the best idea! Back to the drawing board. It's annoying because the weather is changing daily but don't want to leave it too late. I work from home and have very little choice of shops where I live.

I got some great men's cashmere from Vinted m and s size m were perfect for me size 16 also Superdry in M fitted well

Bearpawk · 14/01/2024 17:07

Ask for the measurements armpit to armpit.
Med- large should be fine depending on how fitted or loose you want it.
Ime lots of people on vinted don't understand what wool is. So if it's listed as wool double check/ ask for a photo of materials label etc. of you may end up paying £40 for an acrylic jumper worth £5

Plump82 · 14/01/2024 17:14

Good shout @Bearpawk . I'll keep looking to see what there is. I do worry the sleeves will be far too long as sleeve in ladies are often an issue.

There are absolutely tonnes of vintage clothing shops in Amsterdam - you can pick them up there Smile.

I have a menswear jumper, which is very nice, but much, much too long. Fully bum-covering.

TheDandyLion · 15/01/2024 09:59

Most of my jumpers are mens. Some are too long but I just tuck in and roll up the sleeves. I think it looks ok with another long sleeve or shirt underneath for layering.

We're only there 3 days and only really one full day with the flight times so would rather just come prepared!

I was just shopping online this morning for chunky/cable wool jumpers and ended up scrolling through the men's category. I think I prefer the straight, loose style of a men's crewneck jumper rather than something designed for women that is cropped, fitted at the waist or somewhat frilly. I'm going full fisherman!

Yes! I want fishermens fashion! I don't want a v neck and no frills either.

I love men's jumpers and have bought quite a few men's M&S cashmere jumpers in size large from Vinted and charity shops. I'm a size 14-16.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/01/2024 15:03

I'm a 16 and wear a L in men's jumpers.
I wear a lot of men's jumpers.

amylou8 · 15/01/2024 15:19

I love mens jumpers. I have some vintage lambswool M&S ones and some great chunky hand knits. I'm an 18 and a mens XL is usually a comfortable fit, so you'll probably find a L about right. If you have time charity shops are good.

I wear all of DH's from time to time, he is an XL / XXL and 46/48 chest, depending on style. I am an 18/20 and only issue is sleeve length, but I often tuck the excess inwards on the cuff or have used shirt armbands to shorten the sleeve length. Men's knitwear is often of a better weight than womens and I buy mens shirts too, as they often have more weight than the fabric used for womens and I appreciate the extra length.
