No, not a name thread! Looking for the ultimate waterproof boot solution.

I spend a lot of time walking by the coast now. At this time of year with run off from the fields it’s not unusual to come across some fairly deep sections of water as you walk along the beach.

I need total water proof like a welly but I also need proper walking support as I regularly do 7-10 miles. In the summer I would be happy to just remove my footwear and roll up my trousers but I am not doing that in winter.

What about Durbarry. Are they totally waterproof?

Also I am a size7/8 with chunkyish calves. Would men’s boots be better.

I have the neoprene lined Le Chameau and words can't explain how much I love them. They are so comfy. Supportive but soft. Normally wellies make you do a weird welly waddle when you walk but these are flexible and I can walk miles in them.

I have chunky calves though and, annoyingly, the women's boots are 38cm regardless if you're a tiny size 2 or a size 8. I'm size 7 which is the smallest the mens ones come in and they are 40cm calf and fit perfectly. Added bonus is they are also a bit higher than the women's so are good for walking through deep water.

I was very disappointed with Le Chameau. The rubber perished after only a year’s wear. When I complained they told me it was my fault for not rubbing in their special rubber balm after every wearing.

Aigle and Muckboots I didn’t find very comfortable for lengthy walks.

I now wear Fitflop wellies. They are fleecy lined with neoprene sides and are supportive for my dodgy feet.

I have tiny calves, fit the le chameaux beautifully but I found them uncomfortable to walk in, sole just not sturdy at all.

I usually buy ariat, not on your list so worth a look.

Dubarry are supposed to be totally waterproof.

Could look for horsey makes eg Harry Hall, mountain horse, toggi too.
