Help with a dress for a dinner dance!

Hello all; DH has just informed me, whilst in a massive panic, that we’re at a dinner dance next Friday evening… he’d written it on the calendar for next month!

I need to find a dress sharpish or decide if the one I have is suitable!
The one I have is this one: https://www.roman.co.uk/petite-velvet-pleated-midi-dress-14316654?istCompanyId=2c7d42bf-c86e-4126-852a-34976c2accf2&istFeedId=2671bd7b-958a-4180-b178-22e89d93d179&istItemId=rwiwqqiwi&istBid=t&cm_mmc=AWIN--104504--Deeplink-_-Generic&awc=7800_1705230815_7d54eefa8d1a5afc824d0f0ea310ef3a&utm_source=www.lyst.co.uk-104504&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=Comparison+Shopping+Service+%28CSS%29&utm_content=1390875177&sv_campaign_id=104504&sv_tax1=affiliate&sv_tax3=Lyst+Ltd&sv_tax4=0&sv_affiliate_id=104504

Do we think it’s suitable?
It does fit and I think it looks ok; I’ve had it quite a while but didn’t get round to wearing it because I was pregnant at the do I’d bought it for!

I am a size 14-ish, 5”5, busty, had a baby 12 weeks ago and have a very noticable tummy post a few c-sections and being no-where near shifting any baby weight yet!

Thanks ladies!

friends and family bash

or

work event?

a nice safe flattering dress
could be chilly though!

pizzaHeart · 14/01/2024 11:22

I like this dress and think it’s good : it looks very dancy style wise and has evening colour which can easily be brighten with jewellery/ bag/ shoes.
Do you feel that it sits nicely? If yes, problem solved.

Rocknrollstar · 14/01/2024 11:37

Absolutely suitable. Dress it up with a bit of a bling and take a shawl. Have a good time.

Thanks all! Thats my panic over!

@spearthatbroc social, fundraiser event for a sports club, we’ll be on the edge of top table/commitee table.

First formal event after Covid.

@Rocknrollstar, @pizzaHeart The only issue is if I lean a certain way and lift my arms a certain way it gapes a bit and you can see a few millimetres of bra if you were really looking!

I was thinking of brightening/accessorising with silver; I have a navy and silver pashmina somewhere and I think I have silver heels.

I’d say you’re good to go then! Have fun!
