Dress advice

Hi all

I have been invited to a very glamorous friend’s birthday party at a stately home type place hired out for the evening. The invitation says ‘black tie and bling’ and I am the least blingy person alive.

I don't go to many events like this so don’t really know the etiquette. Does ‘black tie’ mean a long dress?

Any advice or suggestions gratefully reciprocated!

Black tie traditionally means a floor length gown.
Although a long maxi dress will probably be ok
