Embarrassing one-dark top lip

Nocakeinthishouse · 11/01/2024 11:12

Over the past 18 months or so my top lip has gradually got darker and darker. I do have some fine hairs on it, and have had it waxed, but it is like I have a 6 o’clock shadow all the time, even when I use foundation and concealer.

Has anyone else ever had this problem and found a solution to it? I’m really embarrassed by it.

Shave it off using a derma plane.

Laser off any hairs?

Mind you, lasering works best if you have a contrast between pale skin and dark hair. So if the dark shadow is entirely caused by hair regrowth, then lasering might be very effective, but if there is a pigmentation issue as well, it might not be the answer for you.

OP are you peri/menopausal? And is it the hair that has become darker or is it the skin? I had the same experience and was convinced that I had basically got a tache but then realised it was the skin that was darker and that I had developed melasma, related to menopause hormonal changes. I started using Vitamin C skincare products and religiously applied spf50 even during winter and it has now corrected itself.

Vitamin c serum and SPF sorted mine out too.

Started to make a difference quite quickly though it was maybe a few months until I think it had all gone.

Melasma

You are not alone..

I like threading - it is eye watering but quick, and you don’t get a bald patch / pull the skin as you do with waxing

Also good for eyebrows

Oh I SEE. Sorry I thought you meant dark hair..

Thank you all so much. It is the pigmentation of the top lip, not the hair that is causing it to darken. I have some great solutions on here, thank you xxx
