Simply that, what are the current trends?
I know we don't need them but there are certainly A LOT of women out there in the 50's looking like they have just turned 40 - & I am not one of them 🙄

But not fillers, Ive not saw anyone with decent fillers that didnt have that plastic or over full face.

I had a course of CACI and they were fantastic, but unless you keep it up your face sags again... so probably a mini face lift is needed now.

The thing about this is you will never notice filler when it's done properly. I had it in my jowls and massive improvement. She put what was left in my cheeks. Only about 1 ml. I can barely notice that myself. No one at all has asked if I've had filler and believe me, my friends would not hold back, but I've had people say I'm looking well. What you're seeing is the obvious filler look and I know exactly why that would put you off because it did me, for a very long time.

I have a client who is a big name and entrepreneur in aesthetic medicine. She produces injectable peptides ( and I think other "natural" stuff) for a " glowing " skin. It is not a medical treatment. She does look her age, but her skin is glorious. I would never try them as I am scared of needles...

Actually injectable peptides are the superior magic thing to try. My understanding was that these are not available in the UK and I'm not sure if they are officially approved even in US yet.

There is a great aesthetician in my area and to be fair her fillers are amazing, not noticeable but the difference is really good. I might consider this now that I have saw her results.

Lemon bottle didn't work for me. Total waste of time and money. I had 3 lots of it too Blush

Me too. Total waste of money. Mounjaro on the other hand… 😄

MaskAndMartini · 20/09/2025 10:08

Ignore @Mahoneymademe she's talking rubbish. This is what I would generally recommend:

Botox in 4 areas (forehead, glabellar, crows feet & chin).
Filler in 5 areas (cheeks, lips, nasolabial lines, marionette lines & lips).
Lip tattoo (subtle, a similar colour to your natural lips).
Teeth whitening.
Flattering hairstyle.

If done properly, you should look younger and refreshed, not 'done'.

Isn’t it all about microneedling and radio frequency?

I’ve had Sofwave which is meant to tighten the skin. It did slightly but it’s far too expensive.

I don’t want to go down the filler route, they rarely look good. And so easy to overdo - they last a lot longer than the companies claim too. Hence people thinking they need top ups every year. They last many, many years. And can move position.

At some point I think you need to give up with the tweakments and have a good face lift.

How did you find your sofwave? Worth the 1000s or better treatments out there?

InterestPiqued · 29/09/2025 11:39

I don’t mix in a group where fillers are popular (or even tried), but I’d say 50% of my friends have a bit of Botox. It’s popular because it works. No-one looks weird, frozen or overdone, just fresher and less wrinkly.

WildFlowerBees · 29/09/2025 11:43

I bought a ZIIP Halo mico and nanocurrent doobree in Jan, use it 3-4 times a week and my skin looks great, brighter, jawline isn’t saggy now even my eyelids are less hooded. I’m not trying to stop aging just trying to do it more gracefully!

I keep reading about Polynucleotide injections to treat dark circles but at £500 I’d want a guarantee that it would work

I had it done under my eyes, did fuck all.

I don’t think it’s worth the money. It’s so expensive. Maybe made a tiny bit of difference but not enough. Better to save the money for surgery (if that way inclined) I think.

I’m not sure there are better treatments out there. I daren’t try Morpheus 8 - again too much money and some negative reviews.

I don’t think there’s anything on the market that can significantly lift the skin.

At the moment I do profhilo every 3-4 months and Botox twice a year. I still look my age but there is a golden few months every year where the Botox settles and the profhilo kicks in and I look a bit better. Then it all wears off…

Yes I have just bought one and can definitely tell the days I use it versus the days I don’t.

I’ve had quite a few rounds one RF needling - potenza and matrix pro. I think they work very well. I do profhilo and Botox . I’m thinking to trying Jalupro instead and maybe some profhilo structura…

Still Botox, discreet fillers (can def be done), skin boosters and the "new" thing is polynucleotides.

Come here to say this! polynucleotides are very good at rejuvenating the skin!

Ooh that’s good to hear. I may consider - I haven’t heard of potenza.

I’m interested in profhilo structura too!

Potenza gave nice results with minimal pain. Matrix pro , more painful but I think better results.

haven’t had M8 as not heard great things . Too aggressive.

im going to get BBL heroric for post summer treatment .

Ruthietuthie · 29/09/2025 14:28

I am nearly 50 now and my skin looks great. I don't want botox (in fact, my dermatologist, who does give botox to many of her clients, thinks it isn't a good choice for me as I have heavy brows) and I hate the thought of filler, precisely because I see so many bad filler jobs (of course, perhaps I am not seeing the "well done" filler. But I really don't like anything that makes my face look different. A make-up artist once subtly overlined my lips, as my top lip is thinner, and I hated it. I like my features, imperfect as they are.
I have Genius microneedling twice a year (tiny micro needles, that also shoot thermal energy into your face) which really tightens the skin and makes it look more youthful. Twice a year I also have some sort of chemical peel. I have a laser treatment (varies which one) at the end of summer to get rid of any sun spots.
And I apply sunscreen every single day.
I can't use retinol in any form as I am prone to perioral dermatitis. All round, my skin is pretty sensitive and thin, but this regime - all done at the dermatologist - is working pretty well.

Delatron · 29/09/2025 14:49

I may need to revisit laser treatments. Had one years ago - with good results for sun damage.

Interested in the Potenza. I just want little downtime and not much pain. I’m sick of having more aggressive treatments. I had neogen plasma last year. Which was sold to me as not very painful and not much down time. But it was painful and I had lots of redness and peeling.

How much is Potenza? I’m also put off by these treatments costing £££. Morpheus seemed very expensive.

I think I paid 1100-1300 for 3 sessions over 3 month period. I did 2 years ago. It’s for half face and neck( from under the eyes and all way down the neck.

GrimDamnFanjo · 29/09/2025 18:19

I have quarterly Botox but it wears off fast for me.
each month I have microneedling/PRP or skin boosters.
i think I’ll try polynucleotides next.
use a led mask at home

coffeestrongblacknosugar · 10/01/2024 21:11

I think some botox, good skin care, decent hair colour/style and eyebrows done.

I spent money trying to get thread veins in my face done, but I think I need to accept that I have rosy cheeks, probably some sun damage but not rosacea as such.

I had them removed using electrolysis. Very effective

Maybe they are too polite. I see lots of tweakments in my job. Up close they never look good but I’m far too polite to say anything. A close friend has recently had her face savaged by some aestheticism, I doubt it was cheap since she is very, very wealthy, but her beautiful pixie-like face now looks more troll like.
She would have been far better investing in a proper face lift.
Lip fillers gradually destroy the fine capillary beds in your lips resulting in the natural colour disappearing and the filler clumps so that your lips look like frogspawn or tapioca.
Botox done well is great but it’s rarely done well.
I think that women who have work done also use a lot of filters in photos and only see their faces in still photos so don’t realise the effect on their faces when speaking or smiling. It can be quite alarming when you meet someone you know after they’ve had work done. But again, most of us are too polite to say anything or maybe two faced to comment negatively.

whenever my face reacts/gets hot its that area, I might look into electrolysis again, I did have broken veins on my nose and chin fixed before.

Meanwhile I have just messaged the aesthetician that I know who did my brows and eyeliner and sent her pictures and said I need some tweaks, she facetimed me and we had a consultation and Im booked in for subtle filler and tox to lift and I should be fab for the festive season.
we will chat about polynucleotides when im there.

edited to add + a korean lash lift.

coffeestrongblacknosugar · 25/10/2025 09:58

So I messaged the aesthetician that I use and have been and had some filler and botox and I look a million times better, not plastic or like someone from real housewives.

I look refreshed and like ive had a good sleep. Ive said I had a hydration facial and thats what it looks like. Me, but a few years ago😝
