Flaky nails…help!

any advice for my nails!

They constantly flake off the top layer and even when covered with nail varnish they still do the same.

I use cuticle oil daily and also take silica tablets however nothing seems to help.

any links for tried and tested products are much appreciated.

My nails did this once due to hypothyroidism. I had been on thyroxine for a few years but then this started and my next blood test showed it was time to up my dosage. Nails then improved quickly.

Ive been taking collagen tablets which have helped

Can't help but mine are just the same! I always have clear varnish on mine too, to try to stop them catching all the time. Currently trying biotin and omega 3, no change.

I did have a borderline under active thyroid for a while but thought it had resolved. Will see if I can get another test.

Use Essie Hard to Resist strengthener reapply as needed, use a glass file, moisturise frequently and use Vaseline at night - rub into nails. Take biotin.

Are you getting enough protein?

Mine are like this and I've just found out I'm low in iron.

I’m rehabilitating my nails after long-term gels and acrylics (they were in terrible shape) and I’ve been using OPI Repair Mode Serum. It’s quite expensive (£22 for a bottle) but it lasts for ages. You brush it on twice a day and I really have seen a massive difference in the ten days I’ve been using it.

@abbey44 i’m in the same situation, BIAB nails has wrecked mine after only 6 weeks.
5 weeks on and they’re still flaking, horribly bendy and in awful condition despite using nail oil, OPi Nail rescue, hand cream and keeping them very short 😢
