Selling designer ring with no box or receipt?

I’ve got a really nice designer ring that I’ve had about 20 years that I bought myself when I was 20’s and carefree. I’ve rarely worn it. It’s from Cartier.

I’ve misplaced the box and receipt. It’s just sitting there and I doubt I’ll wear it, plus it doesn’t fit any more.

Any ideas how to sell it?

You could contact an auction house and ask how much you'd expect to get after commission. Then try to sell it online for a higher number first. Maybe get a certificate of authenticity.

You need to get it authenticated so that you can get anywhere near its true value.

How would I get a certificate of authenticity?
Sorry to be so dumb.

Take it to Cartier. However, dependant on the item, Cartier no longer authenticates many things now due to the number of high quality fakes.

Also, without original paperwork and box, the item is worth less. However, some auction houses might take them.

Take it to a jewellers. They can value it for you and you can provide the valuation along with the ring.
