Shampoo and conditioner recommendations

I'm on a mission for better hair and looking for recs for shampoo and conditioner. Feel overwhelmed by the number of products on offer and would love it if anyone knew what to go for:

  • shoulder length hair
  • needs daily washing as greasy on day 2
  • oily on top, dry at ends like straw, very frizzy (could be as so much breakage)
  • lots of breakage (have booked in regular trims)
  • hard water area
  • no more than £20 each and ideally a lot less
  • love smells like Aveda rosemary and mint but found the actual product meh

I've asked my hairdresser too but assume she will recommend the salon products

Philip Kingsley shampoo and conditioner and the elasticizer weekly. It is over your ideal budget but the bottles last ages and are usually on offer at brand alley.

I keep buying expensive shampoos and keep regretting it and coming back to VO5 give me moisture set that I pick up from Poundland for £1 a bottle. Leaves my hair softer and shinier than anything else.

I'm not saying it's a miracle shampoo and conditioner but it seems to be exactly what my hair needs. I think that might be the key, finding something that works for you.

Not much help I know but just some reassurance that the right stuff for your hair might not be the £20 per bottle stuff.

I rate Monday shampoo and conditioner. It's about a fiver each but often on clubcard at Tesco or on offer at Superdrug.

I've found that learning to wash my hair properly has made a big difference. Emulsifying the shampoo in my hands first and thinking of shampoo as for the scalp rather than hair care. And using conditioner only on the ends of my hair. But also trims are essential to get rid of damaged ends

Davines nou nou shampoo or Elvive Dream Lengths I alternate washes.

Except for being longer, my hair sounds identical to yours.

Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner have saved my hair. I have used it exclusively for over a decade now. You can get it for about £20 a bottle when on sale. You don't need much, so it lasts ages.

The L'Oréal dream lengths products are great, definitely the best non salon I've ever used. There is a whole range aimed at smoothing hair.

VerbenaGirl · 06/01/2024 08:28

Liz Earle works for me and you can usually find offers or good multibuys on their website and Boots (occasionally QVC). Plus a weekly dose of L’Oreal Wonder Water.
