Please help me look less shit for tonight! Lack of sleep = massive eye bags 😒

Hi,

So I just had one of those nights, where I couldn't switch off and managed to drift off about 7 this morning for a good solid hour or so 😫 So as you can imagine, I feel pretty rubbish. I could deal with that, but I'm supposed to be going out tonight for a NYE party (ish) and I look shocking! Honestly, my bags are horrible this morning and I'm genuinely depressed at the thought of going out looking like this. Feel very much in 'polishing a turd' territory 😒

Thing is, I've tried everything this morning already, but nothing seems to have worked. I tried tea bags, eye patches, facial massage, an under eye massage wand thingy, colour corrector, concealer, but I still look an absolute sight.

Besides a magic wand, are there any remedies I haven't tried that do actually work..even a little?

TIA

Apparently haemorrhoid cream can temporarily tighten eye bags!

PuffyMcPuffyFace · 31/12/2023 12:28

@PanicAtTheLibrary I have no hemorrhoid cream 😑

Could you have a disco nap?

TheresaWa · 31/12/2023 12:30

Could you get a face mask or eyes odd at boots or Superdrug's ?

PuffyMcPuffyFace · 31/12/2023 12:36

@kitsuneghost disco nap? I'm not really a napper. I would love one though!

@TheresaWa I've tried an eye mask, the gold one, but it's not really done anything. It normally would help, but not today.

Put teaspoons in the fridge then use to press away the creases under your eyes. It does make a bit of a difference.

It'll be dark and everyone will be drinking, try to forget and have a good time.

PuffyMcPuffyFace · 31/12/2023 15:07

@TwinklingLightsEverywhere I did actually do this years a go, but I always find the spoons warm up so quickly, so the cooling affect doesn't really last. I know lots of people swear by it though!

I’ve never tried this but aren’t slices of cucumber placed over the eyes while you lie down supposed to help?

mrsbyers · 31/12/2023 15:12

I prescribe pre going out champagne - I’m sure you will look fabulous

Dearee · 31/12/2023 15:17

I would try and have an hour's sleep - put in ear plugs, eye mask etc - you'll feel loads better. I'd then get moving - a quick brisk walk gets the blood flowing. Followed by a strong coffee. Then I'd have a shower and try to lightly massage the lymphatic nodes in face and neck for drainage.

Then get ready and drink some early evening fizz.

Fake tan? Hides a multitude of sins

BusterGonad · 31/12/2023 15:31

Do not lay down, sit upright so they drain. Message them to drain them also (maybe google how to do this).

The only thing that ever worked for me is an old fashioned champagne cocktail, the one with bitters on a sugar cube, a shot of brandy, and top up with champagne. Have one while getting ready, and you'll be all ready to lead the party! You won't care what your eyes look like, you'll be too busy having fun 😂😂😂

Losingmymind85 · 31/12/2023 15:47

Get two tea bags and brew them quickly in boiling water. Out and strain lightly. Straight into freezer for 15m then back out and on eyes for 10m. Perks things right up.
Follow up with vitamin E cream or oil from the fridge (if you have any).

riotlady · 31/12/2023 16:18

Any cans in the fridge? Stick them on, that’s what I used to do after an all nighter

needanotherhol · 31/12/2023 16:26

Try some ice cubes. one to rub under your eyes until they melt and another just over your whole face- it will help wake you up too.

Have a good night!

Cheers to all the champagne 🍾 suggestions. Much better idea than my cucumber slices 😀

PuffyMcPuffyFace · 31/12/2023 21:22

Thank you everyone. I'm on my 3rd glass of wine and strangely, I care less 🤷‍♀️

I would second this, but I put them on my lids while still warm and lie down for 15 -20 mins or as long as possible. Really works to reduce the bags and make eyes brighter. The stronger the tea the better - it draws out all the water

For future reference Green Tea is really good for this. Brew some, place in a jug and keep in the fridge. Have a small saucer to pour some cold tea into and some cotton rounds, soak in the green tea and then lie down and slap two on your eyes. Should at least help you feel refreshed. Green Tea is full of antioxidants and very good for the skin.
