High end petite clothing. Does it exist?

I tried on a pea coat in Sandro reduced from £550 to £279. Even though I’m a size 10 in most clothes, their size 6 (34) coat was way too big (notwithstanding it was an oversized style) and the size 4 is unavailable.
Could I get a petite wool coat in a similar price range? This is the coat I’m talking about. Can anyone recommend good quality petite brands?

Do you mean petite as in under 5’3” or normal height but small sizes?

Easipeelerie · 28/12/2023 18:24

I mean for under 5 ft 3

Following

It's hard enough to even find mid-range petite clothes :(!

Hobbs do petite.
Try Japanese brands.

Reiss have a petite line although you might not consider that high end.

There is a lovely small brand called The Shortlist which has nice stuff although I haven't tried it yet but keen to check out at some point once my bank balance recovers!

Following this keenly as I'm looking for the same sort of thing. I'd particularly like to invest in some really top notch outer wear that will last for years. Don't high end brands want small/short people wearing their clothes?

This company is amazing. shoptheshortlist.co.uk
the first time I have ever worn clothes that make me feel me amazing!

Echo the PP suggesting Japanese brands or brands that sell well in Asia, as people there tend to be smaller all-round than here.

Theory is a really good place to start for mid-high end clothes - they typically make very good quality office separates and coats.

Abercrombie is not super high end but have brilliant sizing and fit for petites. They rebranded recently to be more inclusive but their sizing scale hasn't changed much so their XXS/XS/S also run smaller compared to other brands. They have a huge range of tailored stuff like pants and suits that don't swamp petite frames.

Hobbs
Boden
Whistles
Reiss

Joseph has just started doing shorter lengths in some items. https://www.joseph-fashion.com/en-gb/seasonal/edits/shorter-length-edit/

I don't think they scale down the whole item but at least it prevents you having to cut 6–8 inches off. The way fashion is at the moment - oversized and overlength - I am actually beginning to feel discriminated against. The vast majority of decent clothing is inaccessible to me, at 5ft 2. And while I'm pleased that the catwalk is getting more diverse in terms of ethnicity and body size, I have yet to see a short woman out there.

I see the pea coat you linked to is described as oversized, @Easipeelerie. The oversized look really exacerbates the problem. But in general, Parisian brands are cut smaller, so do look at Maje, Claudie Pierlot and Iro, if you haven't already (be aware that Iro can be a bit big on the shoulders).
