Help! My foundation is too thick and drying!

I went to buy a premium foundation, bought Estee Lauder Double Wear- no help from the sales team and it seemed ok. Went outside to check in the sunlight, after it had oxidised. Im 40 years old with goodish skin but the foundation looks dry and scaly in some places. Should I really moisturise up before or mix something in with the foundation. I like a dewy look. It is good coverage but how can I make it more moisturising....many thanks in advance

Do you use a primer?
double wear is awful for oxidising a funny colour but prep is key to avoiding that scaly look, along with what you are applying it with. Also you don’t need much , so don’t overuse it.

I have the same problem with doublewear and no matter what I do it goes cakey and looks awful after a while. I wear the futurist hydra rescue moisturising foundation and find it much better. It's not as full coverage but can be built up and it doesn't cake on me or oxidise too badly

I wish I didnt buy it! But I feel I need to make it work. Thank you @OutOfOrder67 @veeolay

I mix moisture lotion or Revlon skin lights with thick foundation like double wear to make it look more natural.
