Cloud Nine Straighteners

Hi,

I'm wanting to treat myself to some cloud nine straighteners as mine are on the way out.

I tried some GHD and really didn't like them so I thought I'd try the cloud nines as I love them hence my hairdresser uses them. I am sure she uses the original ones with the standard plate but im not 100%

i have saw the midnight edition is reduced too but im hoping to get some tried and tested reviews from anyone that has experience 😁

for reference, my hair is collar bone lengthwith layers and full fringe, frizzy and very thick/lots of it.

TIA!

I bought some and they are rubbish😩 But then I have extremely thick long hair, think these are perfect for short thin hair tbh

EmptyYoghurtPot · 27/12/2023 19:36

I have Cloud 9s and they are ok. My old GHDs were better though. These take longer to get proper hot and take longer to straighten my hair - shoulder length, fairly thick.

justpoweringthrough · 27/12/2023 19:43

I agree with the other posters OP. I've always had ghd's and recently bought cloud 9's. My hair is thick and course though and they just aren't up to the job......

justpoweringthrough · 27/12/2023 19:43

Sorry....coarse 🙈

RhubarbRocks · 27/12/2023 19:48

I bought the pro version and love it. Long, curly, frizzy hair and it works for me (with products). I like being able to use the revive mode to straighten at a lower heat. I can get my hair totally straight.

MrsMcnulty20 · 27/12/2023 19:48

I bought both ghds and cloud9 to try - returned the cloud 9. I found the ghds much better. You can try and return them but be aware you have to pay for return postage which was about £7

namechangedyetagain · 27/12/2023 19:49

Oh bugger! I've just ordered the midnight wide plates on the sale - my ghds packed up a few years ago and I've been using a cheap pair from amazon as a stop gap. Maybe I should have stuck with those..

Hair long, thick, natural wave if left naturally.

AnnaBegins · 27/12/2023 19:56

I really like mine! I have super thick hair, medium length, and I can get it perfectly straight in 3 "layers" of straightening, so I'm very happy. I've had mine about 18 months and I find they heat up fast and seem to work great.

My hair is naturally wavy, if I blow dry it straight it does look pretty straight though, so maybe not too much work for the straighteners!

I’m so surprised at the comments. I bought my daughter some last year, wide
plate ones and I absolutely love them. They’re great for her long thick hair and also for my shorter, fine hair. Find they heat up almost instantly and really easy to use. Seem much more gentle on my hair than my old Remington ones

MrInbetween · 27/12/2023 20:05

I bought cloud 9s following recommendations here and regret it! Compared to my old GHDs they are pants, even on the hottest setting they are nowhere up to the job compared to GHD.

OhpoorMe · 27/12/2023 20:17

I disagree with these - I have huge thick curly hair and my cloud 9s are a dream. I wonder if people aren't adjusting the heat on theirs as you do want them hot. They're a million times better than new ghds!

Leumurshavethumbs · 27/12/2023 20:19

I'm also team Cloud 9! I got some for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago and they work much better on my hair than my previous GHDs. I have thick, wavy hair.

NotToYou · 27/12/2023 20:23

I love my Cloud 9s, they get my long, thick, wavy hair nicely straight easily.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 27/12/2023 20:30

I have cloud 9's. They're nothing special compared to GHD's but they work fine for me. I have fine, chin length bobbed hair

return2sender · 27/12/2023 20:31

I've got the retro cloud 9s and love them. Much better than my GHDs.

PieonaBarm · 27/12/2023 20:43

New GHDS are awful, cloud9 much better. My hair got stuck in the plates on the platinum GHDS and kept getting pulled out, I sold them and bought GHDS.

Thick, coarse, layered hair. I once told my hairdresser it was falling out and she replied "I could keep cutting and cutting and cutting and you'd have plenty left so I wouldn't worry"

DH bought me Dyson straighteners for Christmas (complete surprise) and whilst they're quite heavy and I'm still getting used to them I do quite like them. Hair is much softer/smoother.

Torchdino · 27/12/2023 20:51

I love mine, I have thick hair and the wide plates are brilliant. They aren't quite as good as my old GHDs but they're miles better than my newer GHDs- quite surprising how much the quality has declined.

Solonomi · 28/12/2023 01:38

I bought both new GHD’s and Cloud 9 to wave my long hair. The GHD’s are brilliant and the style holds. The Cloud 9’s were nice to use but the wave & curl dropped out really fast. I sent the Cloud 9 back.

starsinthenightskies · 28/12/2023 07:58

I am surprised by the first comments, I’ve found cloud 9s far better than the new GHDs. I would always stick to cloud 9s now.

Although nothing is as good as the old school GHDs we all used to use in the early noughties, what happened to those? I always wondered if maybe there was a safety thing or something which meant they could no longer be made in the same way.

hsar200 · 28/12/2023 12:02

I got cloud nine touch ones about 7 years ago acre trying ghd and I love them. Hated ghds.
