Trench with a hood

I absolutely love love love my uniqlo trench (so much so i have it in two colours). I love that it folds down to bearly anything, looks smart, is windproof and folds down to nothing. I love its big pockets and that I can stick a down jacket underneath when it's cold. But I hate that it doesn't have a hood, I'm travelling a lot at the moment, walking a lot and my decent umbrella has given up.

Can anyone recommend a full length (janelle is a tad to short) trench or coat with a hood? It must be long as I really don't like wet legs.
Would consider a full length pack a mack if I knew where to look for them.

Or do I give up and get another umbrella (I'll take recommendations for those too)

Troy London do one but it's expensive.

Maybe Regatta, but that might not be long enough.

I don't know if the colour would match.. but someone I follow on instagram has this detachable hood for a trench coat that she wears.

It's so frustrating lots of trenches don't come with hoods, I found an amazing one in M&S in the sale but I couldn't justify it because of the lack of a hood.. would be much more practical with a hood.

Protected Species do a midi length one with a hood.

I also got a one (midi length) in M&S earlier this year - don't think they have it any more but worth keeping an eye out in the spring.

A Uniqlo coat with a hood?

Icedlatteplease · 26/12/2023 09:57

@Mairzydotes I haven't seen anything that long in Regatta. Troy London look good but sadly a little out of price range. Not that I had a specific range in mind but that definitely out of it!!

@covetingthepreciousthings do you think they keep the little dribble from going down the back of my neck? Yes it is incredibly frustrating trenhes without hoods. The uniqlo coats would otherwise be perfect.

@Floisme or @KeeeeeepDancing Tbh if I went midi I probably would just go for the midi unqlo blocktech. But the style isn't as nice as the trenches. I haven't seen any mid calf blocktechs, the longer length is nice is stopping clothes getting wetter. I kinda also like the belt I can buy big to get a puffer underneath but still cinch down when wearing just the mac.

I'm getting confused about what length you'd like op! If it helps, the M&S one I have is mid calf on me )admittedly I'm 5'3.) The Protected Species one also looks mid calf in the pics.

Icedlatteplease · 26/12/2023 10:11

The uniqlo trench is a good mid calf at 5"6 although it kooks shorter than that on the website.

I know its longer than the janelle. My janelle got accidentally ruined when painting the hall, was heartbroken. the uniqlo was meant to be a cheapass temporary standin but its actually proved more wearable (all through summer into winter) if thats at all possible. Except for the hood.

Maybe I need another look at ones than look too short, although in all honesty I'd love even longer
