Phone or mirror?

I am feeling old. I think I look ok in the mirror but if I take a photo on my phone I look old and haggard every.single.time

Ugh, it's making me feel so old. I am 41.

Does anyone else find this? Which is better for you? Phone? Mirror? Both? None?

Here for moral support Confused

I recommend no mirrors and only phone pics by candle works for me and i'm 43😂.

I recommend auto filter on your pics. Instant ego boost 🤣

@marrybarry I'm not sure either are the best! My eyebrows always look shit in the mirror but fine in photos. I have a mole that's barely visible in the mirror but like a small country in photos.

How do I get this magic to work @HunterHearstHelmsley ?

Also it's the angle. From a bit high up in a photo I look reasonably ok. From a bit below I look appallingly jowly

I'm with you, OP.

I look in the.mirror and think I don’t look too bad for my age, but photos tell a completely different story. 😔

@MaidOfSteel
But which should we go by? The phone or mirror?

It's the number of light sources I think. Only because I know that to show muscles, a single light source is best. So if the face has texture, this is highlighted with only one main light source but say with a mirror, there's light reflected by the mirror and probably multiple light sources around the room.

It's the camera. Picked up my phone the other morning in bed, saw my happy face before I switched it on even, reflected in the cover. Looked cute. Took selfie. WTF?! Looked in mirror, nope I didn't age overnight. Cheked another mirror in full daylight, still fine. Another phone, another selfie. The camera showing up facial contours almost as if I'm a drawing, lines everywhere that don't exist IRL. Bizarre. Look great in my boyfriend's photos. He's got a quality proper camera that wasn't cheap. Don't trust your phone selfies OP!
