Confused about cool v warm tones.

I am fairly convinced I am cool.. my foundations need to have a pink tone.. most are way too yellow on me.

However I much prefer me in lipstick (and nail polish) with orange/coral/brick tones, which seem to be recommended for warm tones. I also prefer peachy blushers.

Have I got this all wrong? I know in the great scheme of things it doesn't matter, but I'm just interested and wondered if anyone could shed any light.

You can get warm pinks as well as cool pinks, so there's no contradiction here. You know you like warm tones, so that's the key thing. Presumably you're some kind of spring?

I have no idea what season I am.. not a clue.

I have green eyes, mousey hair that used to have a bit of auburn (now too grey to know)

I like wearing green, brown, oranges purple, cream rather than white.

I look dreadful in pink.

You said your skin undertone was pink, but that doesn't mean you're cool toned. Since you prefer warm tones, you're probably a warm tone, so spring or autumn.

Pinks can be cool (blue toned) or warm (orange toned). Spring/Autumn are warm and Summer/Winter are cool. Makeup aside what colours do you wear?

As posted really. I am ok with black too, but don't like wearing it even though I think it looks ok

Most people can wear black despite what colour theory hardliners say. There's a great blog post from a Parisian about this!

I also have pink undertones to my skin but am warm (light spring).
