Too much for the pub?

I’m usually a competitive under-dresser and hate feeling trussed up. However I haven’t had a Christmas party this year and am probably going on my only festive night out tonight.

this is an old French connection dress- such a good buy, it’s been an absolute workhorse- and I’m thinking of wearing it out tonight. Going to a nice gastropub, type of place where they do cocktails.

Will be styled with undone hair, camel coat, 120 denier tights so there is not too much ‘mesh’ effect and a black slouchy camera bag. Stud earrings. Block heeled Chelsea boots so not ‘dressy’ shoes.

I imagine my other female friends will probably be wearing jeans and a nice jumper, but I’m not hugely bothered. Debating sending a text saying ‘I haven’t been out much in December- going to dress up a bit’.

Leather skirt and a black silk shirt is probably my middle ground, so will go with this if I don’t wear the above.

thoughts?

Wear what makes you feel amazing, it’s a special occasion you should be able to dress up

I think this time of year people get a lot more dressed up than normal (I am going to a Prezzo tonight with a friend and am going so wear a super sparkly top and a leather skirt). I did text my friend and said I’m going sparkly and she said she’s doing the same.
I think your dress or leather skirt outfit would look nice. Adding your block heeled boots instead of shoes is a good idea.
Have fun!

At this time of year there’s literally every type of outfit at the pub, from work polo shirts, to jeans and fleece, to sparkly jumpers, to cocktail dresses! It’s part of the fun!

I be just come back from lunch at a fairly low key place. Loads of people were very dressed up in sparkly glamorous outfits. It was lovely to see and no one looked too much. If you can't go for it at Christmas when can you!?

Nobody in the pub will know (or care) whether you’re there all night for the biggest night out of the year, or stopping by for one drink before going on somewhere incredibly glamorous. Have you got the kind of friends who will moan that you’re putting them under pressure if you message and say, just to let you know, I’m in the mood for getting dressed up tonight?

I like the idea of leather pencil skirt and blouse better
