I've never bought anything from this company before, but i have seen something I like. Are they comparable to Fat Face/Seasalt/White Stuff? what kind of lifestyle do they promote, and what is their dempgraphic? also are their items good quality and ethical?

Thanks.

They are quite Tory chic.

To me the whole aesthetic says, primary school teacher or rich man’s wife aka domestic slave and posh white people walking dogs on a Sunday before having a roast in an old pub.

I may have read too much into it! 🤣

allcatsareblokes · 21/12/2023 12:42

Oh dear. I'm not sure I like the sound of that. definately not me. Actually David Cameron's wife springs to mind here!

I thought they went bust around 6 months ago.

dreamingofsun · 21/12/2023 13:07

well i've just bought something from them so they cant have gone bust. I might be white but i am no-ones slave. If you like bling dont go there, otherwise give them a try. their macs are very good.

MinnieCauldwell · 21/12/2023 13:08

The quality has gone right down, the bright colours wash out quite quickly. I am neither a Tory, posh or a dog owner.

Vinoveritass · 21/12/2023 13:10

To me it screams market town middle class with an outdoorsy or aspiration for outdoorsy lifestyle?! Definitely in the fat face and white stuff mould. I also picture gilets, quilted jackets and wellies, with too bright and busy prints. A bit horsey too

Copperoliverbear · 21/12/2023 13:11

I think a lot of their tops shrink

I’m in no way a Tory, but David Cameron’s wife has a successful career of her own.

FWIW, I quite like some of Joules’s things. It’s not cutting edge but similar to those brands you have mentioned.

Invisimamma · 21/12/2023 13:26

I got a really nice and good quality pair of denim shorts from the eBay outlet store, and a checked scarf from Amazon.

But I find a lot of their things a bit frumpy and mumsy. It does seem quite good quality though.

DamsonDress · 21/12/2023 13:38

I see them on a par with the ones you've mentioned. I do see it as mumsy outdoorsy like others have said but wouldn't be put off buying the odd piece I like. Quality has been fine in anything I've bought so far.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 21/12/2023 13:39

Frumpy dog owner. Not as posh as they think they are.

MrsMoastyToasty · 21/12/2023 13:41

It depends on what you're after. Some things are the love child of a 1980s Sloane Ranger and Mr Tumble.

Thatfeatherthere · 21/12/2023 13:43

They went into administration and were saved by Next. So I guess it's more accurate to say they almost went bust

Some of their stuff is very twee - breton tops with flowers on are a classic example. I'm not keen on any of their patterned stuff, but have a couple of completely plain jumpers and they're ok.

Torganer · 21/12/2023 13:43

It’s where my mum shops, pretty average safe clothing. It’s not going to win any fashion awards, but if you like stripy tops and yellow Macs, you’ll be fine.

SabrinaThwaite · 21/12/2023 13:44

Joules was bought out by Next last year.

I’ve had a few of their tops and they were always good quality - thick cotton that lived forever etc - but I haven’t bought anything for a quite a while.

Definitely a bit nautical, outdoorsy, bright prints and lots of stripes. You don’t need to go full Joules though (never go full Joules).

Strawberryshortcake90 · 21/12/2023 21:22

It’s not a brand that’s ever going to be cutting edge fashion.
I have a pair of wellies from there, I have chunky calves and they’re the only brand that fit me comfortably. I also have a raincoat from there - it’s a plain navy inoffensive school run coat. It’s got a detachable fleece lining and keeps me warm and dry without being sweaty.

Redlarge · 21/12/2023 21:24

Embarrassing and been the same for years

NoCloudsAllowed · 21/12/2023 21:30

Reliable and good quality as far as anything I've had. Good everyday basics, maybe frumpy but who cares when it's a top under a jumper etc. I've got a fluffy joules dressing down that I love and it's in it's seventh year.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 21/12/2023 21:47

It had its day about 10yrs ago at which point everyone I know owned a Breton top with a 'quirky' print and a yellow mac.
They've not really moved on and it's now very dated.
