Nye at ski resort

Not one of the posh ones, relatively unknown, in Europe. Planning to wear sparkly top and leather skirt opaque tights and heels. Too much? Too little?

It's decades since I've been but I would recommend boots with some traction. There's usually a lot of ice/snow/slush about. I'm sure you could find boots to fit the bill. And from there your sparkly top would go with nice jeans/leggings/trousers. You could possibly wear very opaque tights and your leather skirt but might find the outdoors between venues a bit cold.

But then we used to go straight off the ski slopes into a bar. So ski wear works too!😂

Moon boots also used to be a thing. Think you can still get them...

Moon boots were back in the last couple of years! I wanted some since I was 6 and have eventually bought some 50 years later!

Your outfit sounds great anyway, you don’t need moon boots !

I love NYE on some ski resorts with all the fireworks etc

NorthernSpirit · 20/12/2023 20:40

Too much (if you intend to leave the hotel at any point).

Everyone will be wearing jeans & boots (sensible) outdoors.

I ski every Christmas & NY in Europe. Very few people dress up. The only ones who do tend to be older German women.

Thank you for your replies! So based on these, perhaps keep sparkly top, but ditch the skirt in favour of some dark jeans, and boots...maybe heels arent too sensible on the ice. don't really wanna look like the elderly German ladies 😀 so how is the atmosphere like in ski resort hotels people celebrating nye? Chic? Clubbing like? Chalet like?

Sounds like a plan on the outfit.

I wear a dressy shirt, skinny jeans with chunky black Chelsea boots and a massive Superdry coat when we venture out in the evening.

We do Christmas & NY in Austria. The Austrian resorts are fab, après is wild and NYE is a big party. Expect lots of fireworks.

Where are you off to?

Cobot · 21/12/2023 11:57

Austria! Thanks so much, that really helped :)

I never take heels to skiing holidays and wonder why others do.
Boots all the way! Sparkles fine for NYE!

TheTripThatWasnt · 21/12/2023 12:08

I've done NYE in Italian ski resorts and wouldn't entertain the idea of a skirt! Nice top, definitely, but jeans and boots all the way! You'll probably be outside at midnight for fireworks etc, so you need something sensible on your feet and not to freeze to death.
Fireworks were let off until 2-3am in Italy (at random, anywhere, by all and sundry) - it was bedlam. We were glad to be watching it (after the main display) from our hotel bar/room!
