Uniqlo women’s ultra light down short jacket - anyone put it in the washing machine?

Hi

I have a light grey shirt down jacket and just read the washing instructions and it says “hand wash”. Has anyone tried putting it in the washing machine on gentle cycle and if so did it come out ok? Or should I just not be so lazy and do as the instructions say😂

Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Yes - on a cold wash and then in the tumble dryer with a few tennis balls.

Ooh thanks for that. When you put it in the tumble dryer, how long and was it on a low setting?

I wash mine regularly on a 20 degree eco cycle. Dry in tumble drier on a gentle setting with tennis balls

Jacket is nearly 8 yrs old and still in very good condition

Ive washed mine on cold hand wash setting and line dried as I don't have a tumble drier. Shake vigorously when dry. All fine.

Amazing! I have a very similar regatta one in dark green which could do with a wash às is starting to look a bit stained around eg the neckline, cuffs where it is in most skin contact.

I shall add this onto my list of things to do next year!

Right reporting back. The washing was successful, got it very clean as I had makeup around the collar area etc. Put in drier as per suggestions and it has come out with clumpy bits, and almost dry so I have shaken it and hung up to see if this improves….

DD has a cream Uniqlo one that happily survives a "down jacket" wash and I have some old Musto down gilets.

OP if you have clumps of feathers when dry, you should be able to pull them apart with your fingers and then roll sections between your hands.

If you have some tumble drier balls, I would let the jacket dry naturally and then pop it in the drier on a cold setting for just a couple of minutes.

Madcats- thanks for your advice, I will give it a try.

I did put a couple of tennis balls in the dryer with it as I don’t have any tumble drier balls. I don’t use my drier very often but it is useful sometimes😁

I came across this post last night after accidentally washing my jacket without checking the care instructions. Dryer balls were a game changer—they brought my damp, "ruined" jacket back to life. It looks and smells brand new! Keep dryers in the tumble dryer until it's fluffs up!
