Red Nail Polish Recommendations

BeretRaspberry · 19/12/2023 19:38

Hi,

Please can anyone recommend a red nail polish for me. I’m pale skinned so tend to suit deeper/opaque colours and I also need it to be a cool (blue?) red, rather than a warm orangey one. And of course something that lasts.

I mainly wear it on my toes as I cover those nails all the time due to having an op when I was younger leaving them discoloured. I’d not be adverse to wearing it on my fingers now and then though. Budget not an issue if decent.

Thank you.

I like the Rimmel 2 step one, I think the colour I use is called Rock and Roll.

It's red with a clear top coat that seems to cure - I think it's called super gel.

Thank you both, I’ll check them out.

Primark Gel one for £1
On my third bottle

I always think Chanel Rouge Noir looks super classy on nails

BeretRaspberry · 20/12/2023 14:19

@Runoutofinkagain I love that colour but I’m not 100% sure it will suit me. I don’t know why. My sister always has a gel colour very similar and it looks fab on her.

OPI - Red Hot Rio

I'm pale skinned with cool undertones and have always worn Fire by Chanel. My mother always did too.

Second Rimmel. I have bought all sorts of polish and with a decent top coat it’s hard to beat. I like the 2 step Rock n Roll PP mentioned but I also have double decker and some orange reds. My top coat of preference is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri but toes are easier than fingers for not smudging.

QueenAstrid · 20/12/2023 21:28

Watching for recommendations. Can anyone tell me, is the Chanel long lasting?

GellerYeller · 20/12/2023 21:32

Essie do really good cool toned reds. They seem to chip less on me than others.

captainsudoku · 20/12/2023 21:34

OPI 'Got the Blues for Red' and 'Malaga Wine'. They are both nice cool-toned deep reds.

I find Chanel doesn't last well on me. Rimmel of the Primark gel one has great staying power and quick drying.

CND Crimson Sash

One of my favourite reds is Rimmel Rapid Ruby. It's in their 60 seconds range, so can be a bugger for chipping, but I just use a good top coat and it's fine.

BeretRaspberry · 21/12/2023 12:54

Thanks everyone! I’m checking them all out.

Essie Fishnet Stockings
Essie Wicked (Chanel Rouge Noir dupe)
OPI Big Apple Red - this is a brighter red but I'm wearing it now and looks quite Christmassy.

JerkintheMerkin · 21/12/2023 15:48

Barry M have a breathable one called scarlet which is a beautiful shade of red. Very classic looking.

JerkintheMerkin · 21/12/2023 15:50

With a coat of seche vite on top, people assume I have gel nails.

sleeponthesofa · 21/12/2023 15:57

I can't remember what it is called but mabelline do a lovely true red and it lasts for ages

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/12/2023 16:00

I'm cool toned and bought a Max Factor red yesterday, the two step one with the top coat but I used my No7 top coat. Look on Amazon as it's 4 quid cheaper!

mimiasovitch · 21/12/2023 16:08

I second Got the Blues for Red and Malaga Wine by OPI - I've repurchased several times, and am cool toned.
