Best diffusers for curly hair

I have curly hair with a tendency to frizz. I usually finger curl my hair with product and leave it to air dry. The hair dresser today used a diffuser to dry my hair after a cut and colour.

DH has yet to buy my Christmas present, so I thought I would ask your recommendations for a hair dryer with diffuser attachment.

Why a diffuser instead of air dry? Does it define curls better?

floofbag · 19/12/2023 16:02

@StrawberriesSW1 because it's takes forever to dry curly air .. mine takes at least 5 working days to dry with product in .. without it's a big frizzy ugly mess !

I have the mini Amazon one but I've asked for the Dyson for Xmas !

Shark is supposed to be good too

I do like it air dried, but it holds the moisture for so long that it's wet until 8 o clock, even when washed at 6am. I just feel a bit of a scruff going to work with wet hair

I just bought a universal clip on one (with a deep bowl) for my current mini hairdryer. Works great :)

Bellissma is fab

Dyson hairdryer is great. I use the diffuser and my hair is dry in a fraction of the time of my old hairdryer.

historygeek · 19/12/2023 16:13

Is the Dyson worth the money? I was looking at the Bellisima but would stretch to the Dyson if it miraculously makes me look "put together" rather than not knowing how my hair will end up until 4 hours after I've washed it.

I have wavy hair but find the Dyson air with diffuser attachment gives me a beautiful blow dry, much better definition and nice on day two also.

I've recently bought a shark hairdryer and it's great. The diffuser has adjustable prongs. My bf actually said "you look like you've had your hair done professionally" each time I use it, which I think is praise indeed.

I meant GHD air, sorry!

It was a present from DH, so I would definitely say it was worth his money 😂However I would say its the nature of curly hair to never know what it will look like! Mine never looks the same as the previous wash. But you'll get to that point in 20 mins rather than 4 hours 😂

At least that way I'll know if I'll need a scrunchy before leaving the house, rather than when I finally get to go to the loo (at about 2.00) and catch sight of myself in the mirror!

I'm getting the shark for Xmas. My hairdresser said that it was just as good as the Dyson but a lot cheaper. I got mine half price too

BlowingAway · 19/12/2023 23:30

I don't own a hairdryer but just to say I have the same issue, it can take all day to dry properly.
Maybe I should also buy one!

Which Shark have people got/ are getting for Christmas? There are a couple I've seen but not sure what the difference is!
