Toast-esque socks but cheaper?

I'd love to buy myself a few pairs of nice socks - a bit like the socks from Toast but with a lower price tag! I like their lovely earth tones and textures. Any suggestions?

A hopeful bump?

How low a price tag? Manufactum have some really nice socks in similar styles, probably better quality, at about half the price but that's still spendy sock territory for most, I suspect.

I have very particular taste in socks. I like Falke socks, and have found some bargain Falke at times, on Amazon and in TK Max. Celtic and Company are really good, expensive but they sometimes send vouchers which helps. But I also look at places like Mountain warehouse and Irish knitwear companies. I now prefer Mens socks, and am much more like to find earthy woolly socks for men but I have big feet. My Dh got me a 3 pack of navy ribbed woolly mens socks from Sainsburys last year, and I love them.

Real wool, properly made socks are probably going to be expensive wherever you get them, but I have recently found some good ones (Irish or Norwegian etc) for £15-£20 at independent stalls in covered markets in Oxford and Bristol. Do you have any indy clothes shops or stalls near you?

NovemberLove · 18/12/2023 22:00

@botemp I hadn't heard of Manufactum, thanks!

Thanks @Zebracat I didn't know about Falke. And didn't think of TKmaxx for socks. Annoyingly I have size 4 feet so I can never find men's socks in my size.

Uniqlo has some nice ones - not all wool/natural fibres but they do have some nice toast-style designs.

Also a good hunt around ebay might yield results - you can sometimes get unused or end of line bargain lovely socks.

Theresa a company called Nordic Socks that pops up on FB from time to time. Not sure how authentic they are. DBro bought some a while ago and they were very small, so he gave them to small footed friends including DD. May not be a problem if you're a size 4. Have a look at Seasalt too.

I like the Cambridge Sock co. mohair socks, great range of colours

No for goodness sake not Nordic Socks. Read the online reviews - terrible. Don't buy them.

I buy Celtic and company when they do a £15 off voucher - which is often

dudsville · 19/12/2023 07:51

I love falke wool socks but they damage when worn with dm boots, whereas the unbranded wool ones from toast with the fun designs hold up really well. I'm going to check out these manufactum too!

MrsTwatInAHat · 19/12/2023 07:57

The other thing is Toast often sell socks from particular other companies so you can look for the same item elsewhere, and you might find it in a sale, on eBay etc. Google image search the socks!

Mellowautumnmists · 19/12/2023 09:32

Sometimes Groupon and WOWCHER have good deals on thermal type socks. Worth a look.

Thanks everyone for some fantastic suggestions!!
