Tubing mascara

I think this is what I need..

My old faithful mascara has started to smudge and give me panda eyes, not sure why but it's driving me mad.
Would tubing mascara sort this? Any recommendations for good long lasting ones? And do they take a lot of rubbing to get off?

I’ve used a few tubing mascaras (Poppy Sloan, Clinique, Victoria Beckham). They have all been really easy to remove - you just rub gently with warm water.
I have very watery eyes and they can’t withstand windy cold weather which makes my eyes stream, but are fine for less extreme conditions.
Not much to choose between the ones I’ve tried, except to say that the Victoria Beckham one doesn’t contain a particular allergen of mine, but it is very expensive.

I find the boots number 7 brilliant, no smudging and comes off easily.

OhpoorMe · 17/12/2023 22:39

I've tried a few and the Estée Lauder one is my favourite

Yes, tubing mascara will solve your problem. I've tried several and they've all been great. No7, Maybelline Snapscara, Eyeko, Clinique.
Maybe try a cheaper one to start with?

LogFireSnoozing · 17/12/2023 23:05

The Victoria Beckham one (the one launched a few months ago) is tubing and completely smudge proof.

Wasywasydoodah · 17/12/2023 23:07

I like the Clinique one, never any smudges and lasts better than others

BlowingAway · 17/12/2023 23:08

Hourglass is brilliant. Haven't tried the others.

LBB2020 · 18/12/2023 00:01

Hourglass tubing mascara is lovely but quite pricey. Boots No.7 is good and reasonably priced. Currently using the KVD Beauty full sleeve tubing mascara and really like it

Love tubing mascaras for my sensitive eyes. Tried blink, eyeko, no 7 and clinique and I always prefer clinique. Looks better on, less clumpy and all round brilliant, but I'm currently using no 7 because it's cheaper. More clumpy at the beginning of the tube but after a couple of weeks it dries out a bit and is better, flakes a bit more, but generally pretty amazing compared to non-tubing mascaras.

Thank you for all the recommendations I'll try to pick one up today I'm sick of looking like a panda

I rate the Mac one in the yellow tube

BlackSwan · 18/12/2023 09:53

Kevin Aucoin!

Another vote for No 7 - it’s about £12 and works perfectly for me. I wear contact lenses, so I try to avoid fibres, and it gives great length without them. And no smudges, ever!

The Victoria Beckham one (the one launched a few months ago) is tubing and completely smudge proof.

It comes off in the rain and with my watery eyes.

Personally i did not find tubing mascara helped me with this problem. I spent £££ on so many mascaras trying to solve this. In the end here's 3 things which really did -

Wipe your lashes.
Before putting anything on your lashes gently wipe them with a bit of clean fabric. Piece of cotton cut from an old pair of knickers (or your DHs boxers! 😆) or something like that. Not cotton wool because you'll get fluff. Sounds odd, but any moisturiser or cleanser or anything which might have crept down from the skin of your lids into your lashes will cause mascara to slip off. So wipe them clean at the last minute before applying anything to lashes.

Use a mascara base.
It's basically white mascara which you put a thin layer of under your coloured mascara. I think this helps because a) you tend to then use less of your coloured mascara because it's a 2nd coat, and therefore less colour to smudge around and b) i think the base holds the colour onto your lashes. One tube of this has lasted me AGES.

Use a make up base on your lids.
Just a matte eyeshadow base (or to be honest even just a face make up base)(Elf is good and cheap) seems to help stop eyelid oils making their way down into your lashes. This works weather you are using any actual eye shadow or not.

I use this. Wish I'd discovered it years ago!

Could anyone tell me which No7 they're recommending?

It’s the No7 Stay Perfect tubing mascara. I think they only do the one.

OutingPosts · 25/04/2024 15:06

@AlwaysForksAndMarbles thanks, half price today if you also buy Diet Coke!

musicmum75 · 25/04/2024 15:08

Hourglass Unlocked if you don't mind splurging. No7 Stay Perfect if you are on a budget.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 25/04/2024 15:46

For anyone interested, I got the No.7 one a day quite liked it but i didn't love it. It was essentially just ok.
I recently bought maybelline lash sensational sky high in cosmic black
This one is much better. It layers well. Stays out all day. And comes off far easier at the end of the day. Plus it's pretty cheap at £12.99
