This one one, undecided on colour (the cream and beige are versatile but will not suit me): https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-light-down-compact-jacket-460929.html

Has anyone had one, are they as versatile and practical as they look? He reviews are good but I will have to order online as no shop within two hours of me…

Ultra Light Down Compact Jacket | UNIQLO UK

Think of the compact jacket as a cardigan: wear it on its own on milder days, or under heavier outerwear when it gets colder. The unique adjustable two-way collar allows you to create a crew or V neck design, while premium down with a fill power of 750...

I don’t know I tried alot on and ended up with a m and s one which I felt fitted better. Sorry can’t help

Omgwhatthehell · 16/12/2023 16:45

I have a previous version of this in black, which I got at a silly cheap price in the sale a couple of years ago. It is brilliant!

I wear mine a lot as a jacket, as it’s surprisingly warm for something so light. And when it’s really cold it can be worn underneath another coat.
It folds down really small into its own little bag so is great for travelling or putting in your bag as an extra layer just in case.
Don’t hesitate!

I’ve got a previous version of it in a dark green colour. It’s great as a light jacket in spring/autumn (easy to stuff in a bag when weather is changeable) and in winter when I don’t want to wear a coat which is smart but maybe not super warm,I wear it underneath.

Mumofoneandone · 16/12/2023 17:59

Am currently wearing mine. Really useful item, although managed to loose the bag it goes in, which is a pain but worth getting!

I have a coffee/taupe coloured one with a high neck. Brilliant. Had it for a couple of years. Fits under a coat or on its own in spring and winter. Very cosy. Can wear it indoors on a really cold day. Goes with black navy. Scrunches up small in its bag in my handbag. I like the high collar neck as it keeps out the draughts. Would buy again. But havent washed it yet. Grubby me. So I dont know what they are like after a wash.

Yes I love mine. I bought two!
Love the way they pack down. I just keep one in my bag all the time and can whip it out if I feel a bit chilly or want an extra layer.

peplepue · 16/12/2023 20:01

I have a navy one. It's great, light, warm and smart.

CanaryCanary · 16/12/2023 20:02

Can anybody explain the sizing? Normally a 14-16.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 16/12/2023 20:09

Another asking for sizing. I have just gone through the size assist and it has suggested 3xl. I am a size 14. Does this sound right please?

jalopy · 16/12/2023 21:24

I absolutely love mine. I have it in black & wear it under my coats to double the warmth. I am a size 12 (leaning to a 10) and have got it in medium.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/12/2023 22:32

I’m interested in this too but the size checker thing says XXL for me - 5ft 6 and would usually get a 12 in coats but a 10 in a “top”. Does it come up tiny?

Jumbojem · 16/12/2023 22:42

I've got one in navy. Great on warmer days, or under my rain coat on cool wet days. Packs small so was fab when I was cabin bag only on easyJet flight.
Mine is a L and I'm 12-14 and this size is perfect for me.
It's lightweight and smart looking but goes as well with jeans and trainers as it does work wear.
I took a punt on a few Uniqlo things, this coat, the infamous sling bag, merino jumper and some wide leg trousers. I have never been to a shop, I live in SW and imagine the closest is London. They've all been fab pieces, well made at reasonable prices. The size finder is pretty accurate, I got tops in L and bottoms in M and all fit fine.

Parapapampam · 16/12/2023 23:02

I have a black one, packs down really small and light so carry in my bag most of the time as an extra layer when needed, very useful. I have a size S, usually an 8-10.

hashisucks · 17/12/2023 08:06

Another fan here - I got an older version in navy years ago and I reckon it’s one of my most worn pieces of clothing ever. I wear it under wool coats to make them warmer and because it’s so thin it doesn’t add bulk. I found it came up small but definitely use the size checker.

grannycake · 17/12/2023 08:43

Mine is 7 years old and still looks great I wear it as a light jacket in Spring & Autumn and under waterproof/or smarter coats in the winter. I'm a size 6/8 and I have the S

MissedItByThisMuch · 17/12/2023 09:55

I have it in black and it is brilliant, the most useful and versatile jacket I own. I take it every time I travel. I am a 16 and have an XL which is a perfect, fairly fitted fit.

AHFaemale · 17/12/2023 10:23

I've had a previous design one from them and they are good and practical. I used to wear it for layering in the winter or roll it up (mine came with a bag) and keep it in my handbag incase I got cold and needed to put it on.

Alsowondering · 17/12/2023 19:02

I think their sizing tool is well off. I'm a 14 and it told me I needed a 3XL also!

mymidlifeeyes · 17/12/2023 19:03

Got mine for £20 on vinted, worth a look on there x

Gherkingreen · 17/12/2023 19:10

I have a sleeveless high necked ultra light down version that I use most days for dog walking, either over a fleece if it's cold or under a waterproof if it's raining. It's really useful and packs down small into its own bag. I'm 5ft 11, size 12 and wear a size L.
