If you are looking for a timeless classic Longines ladies watch with a budget of £1500 which one would you go for?

I have had an Evidenza for over 13 years. Love it. Even if this particular Longines model isn't quite your thing, it's a fantastic watch, still looks great and hasn't given me a moments' trouble in all this time so I certainly recommend the brand.

I have this and I love it

I too have the dolce vita with stainless steel strap, had it for years. I chose it because it is understated enough to wear on a daily basis, classy and won't date like some other styles.

Focalpoint · 16/12/2023 21:25

I got the gold and stainless steel one for my 21st in 1994 and have worn it every day apart from a brief flirtation with an Apple Watch but I'm back to the Longines now. Honestly don't think it looks dated. Still works perfectly - had it serviced a couple of times. Highly recommend.

millymae · 16/12/2023 22:20

I got mine for my 21st birthday too and wear it every day
I chose one with a leather strap which has now been replaced two or three times by my local jewellers who have always managed to fit the original longines buckle to the new strap.

Beautiful watches!

(Makes me think about equestrian showjumping, because the riders always win a Longines watch).

wineandwhin · 17/12/2023 00:39

Thanks everyone. I love the dolce vita too.

What's the difference between quartz and automatic? Which one is better?

Quartz is battery powered, whilst with automatic you have to move your wrist to keep it working. Quartz is more reliable and personally I prefer it, but they both have pros and cons.

Thanks. Is changing battery expensive? Sorry about the questions, I've never owned one before.

I have this Evidenza. I change the strap every couple of years - it's easy enough to buy a new strap online and change it yourself - so I can change the look with a different strap.

I have the same one as Abbey44 in gold and similar in the leather strap version. They do go well with everything and are a classic. I tend to wear the gold one more and wear the leather strap for gardening. I have had them for decades.

It is if you take it to a dealer who insists on sending it back to Longines in Switzerland - which is entirely unnecessary. My bloke replaces all our watch batteries, including Longines and Ebel. A local jeweller will do it for about a tenner.

MsSweeney · 17/12/2023 08:21

This is mine. I love it.

I have a Presence. It went back to Longines a couple of years ago to be serviced and they said it was obsolete (it's 30 years old but I don't think that's old for a watch). The big name jeweller then refused to touch it. A local jeweller changed the battery and it's fine.

It is the equivalent of Trigger's broom but all original parts.

A battery normally lasts about three years. My Longines was never waterproof anyway.
