Boots to go with this

Found a short length TOAST cord skirt in black in a charity shop which fits me perfectly.
It looks like this but it is not the same brand as this:

Trouble is I don't have any footwear which looks good with it - trainers make it look dumpy on me (I am 5ft4 and petite but longer trunk/body and slightly shorter legs fairly flat chested etc)

I will have to buy some knee length boots to wear this won't I?
If you disagree could you suggest other footwear?

My DD wears a skirt like that with her Converse. I would go for DMs or similar, myself.

You could try chunky loafers. They might look nice. If you didn't want to wear trainers. Otherwise the knee boots.

thank you so much for these suggestions, they have given me a spur to search for these alternatives
the problem is my legs are a bit short in proportion to my body so i feel like i need some kind of heel but I don't feel confident walking in a high heel if that makes sense and i feel like the heel needs to be chunky (ie not stilleto) with a that type of skirt, (but really i have no idea)

Knee boots with a lowish heel and opaque tights. All black outfit with contrast jacket.
