Have you given up on nail varnish, are natural nails healthier?

I love my nails being painted, it makes me feel more polished somehow. But every time I wear polish my nails start breaking. I use an acetone free remover and don't wear polish all the time but the same thing always happens.

It's not so bad on my toe nails as they are stronger anyway and I only wear polish on my toes in summer when my feet are on show.

Is it better just to give up on nail polish on my fingers? I don't like gels as they wrecked my nails completely when I used to have those done.

I don’t wear nail varnish for this reason. Gel is the worst, they put your fingers under uv light which increases the risk of skin cancer. Then you can’t get the bloody stuff off, you have to go back and pay for removal. Varnish isn’t as bad but you’re exposed to toxic chemicals and after a while your nails go yellow. I just buff my nails and keep them a tidy shape.

I have never done anything to my nails. Just keep them shaped and very clean.

I don't think completely bare nails are necessarily healthier or better, I find they are more prone to chippping or splitting without a bit of protection, so I use OPI nail envy to protect them.

Never had any nail problems either from gel or regular polish. Apparently there is a big genetic component to nail health.

I don't use it on my fingers as I see the state of my toenails after a summer of wearing nail polish, generally there is a bit of fungus there and yellowed nails
