Sorry in advance. Not sure where else to ask.

Does anyone else get hair all along and on the inside of their outer labia? If so how do you remove? I use hair removal cream on the traditional bikini line area and trim the rest really short. I'd love to remove 100% of the hair but is it possible?

I've seen images of other women on porn etc without a single hair anywhere but they also don't have the huge labia I have!!

I'm not sure how common my issue will be to others....I get hair growing on the inner side of my outer labia if that makes any sense?! I don't know how I can get rid of this without also getting hair removal cream on my inner labia?

Or do other people just not get hair growing here? (I am a very hairy person in general and my hair is very course & dark, grows back really fast - thanks Italian heritage!)

It could be an unusual combo of large labia and dark/coarse hair but how to others manage this?

It's normal. I am blonde and have hair there. Waxing can remove esp if you do the hot wax that sets and it grabs everything. Shaving also works (with care). However mostly I don't bother.

swuahies · 06/12/2023 14:37

43 years old and only just realising it's maybe not because I'm just a hairy freak.
I've always had hang ups about my labia and been too embarrassed to address it!

Also blonde and also have it. I recommend getting a Brazilian wax. They make sure everything is gone

Yeah, I am a hairy freak as well - even get upper lip hair, FFS.

I just shave it off (lip hair I used wax strips).

mintich · 06/12/2023 14:40

Yes! I shave it

Headband · 06/12/2023 14:40

Wax or shave it.

GladioliandSweetPeas · 06/12/2023 14:41

Or shave and use an at home IPL machine (carefully of course!) Dark hair is ideal for Ipl. You must shave first though as shaving leaves the base of the hair in the follicle which IPL needs as it uses melanin in the hair base to destroy the follicle. Do not wax, pluck or use hair removal cream before using IPL as it just won't work.

swuahies · 06/12/2023 14:42

Thanks everyone!

Shaving gives me such thick, jaggy regrowth and I've been too scared of cutting myself! I've been too embarrassed that my labia are so ugly that I've been too mortified to go for a wax!

I did laser hair removal Hollywood, worth every penny.

GladioliandSweetPeas · 06/12/2023 14:42

That's why IPL doesn't work on light blonde hair as there's no/not enough melanin

I've actually had a ton of laser hair removal but not on actual labia! Maybe I just need to brave it.....

I get it, I used to shave it (carefully!) but now I epilate it (CAREFULLY!) 😂 I love epilating.. and it’s true what they say, it’s more painful than waxing, but weirdly for me only my legs hurt that much. I almost find it unbearable epilating my legs, but my armpits and pubes are no issue at all, but wincey to begin with but the regrowth is finer and weaker so it gets better!

AngryBirdsNoMore · 06/12/2023 14:45

You aren’t a hairy freak! I think it’s normal (I’m a bisexual woman and am speaking from experience of seeing a few labia…).

I think the only way to remove is waxing - getting a full Hollywood or whatever the technical term is. I did it once, never again because it was SO painful.

Id not avoid a wax from embarrassment about ‘ugly’ genitals. Honestly, they’ll have seen so many - my understanding is that as long as you’re clean and fresh, it’s all good.

Maybe look up the Vagina Museum - they sometimes do displays of lots of different women’s genitals from different angles. It did open my eyes to the variety that’s out there in terms of size, shape, colour.

Was there any need for that?

AngryBirdsNoMore · 06/12/2023 14:49

For what?

cactidream · 06/12/2023 14:49

I don't have any inside- but my best decision in life was to do laser.
After
YEARS of creams waxes it is such a relief.

@GladioliandSweetPeas any need for what?

I'm appreciating every single response and what @AngryBirdsNoMore is helping me feel a bit more 'normal'

Yes, or at least on the edge of it. I don't remove it, only trim. Same for the rest. I don't want bald genitals like a sphinx cat.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 06/12/2023 14:52

Thanks @swuahies. I certainly didn’t mean to cause any offence to you (or others) and was concerned I may have done.

I've had full legs lasered and also a more 'traditional' bikini where I actually kept my pants on during treatment. That's been life changing enough for me - previously I could shave my legs in the morning and feel stubbly that night!

Kicking myself if didn't get this done at the same time - I just assumed it wasn't very common and I was too self conscious!

I was wondering if @GladioliandSweetPeas missed the part where I called myself a 'hairy freak' and that you were responding to that.

No offence taken at all - I really appreciate your comment (and all the others). Thanks again!

I had it all lasered off, now I epilate the fairer hairs that still
come through. Hurts like fuck but works a treat.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/12/2023 15:04

That's the problem with pornography. People not actually knowing what is normal.

If in doubt in future, you can safely assume that if it happens in pornography, it is not normal, whatever it is.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 06/12/2023 15:05

Totally normal.
The women in porn are not representative of the female population.

If you want to, waxing will help thin the hair but it's really not to everyone's taste.

I assumed the same. That or they were offended at my relaying my wild bisexuality. I’m going to assume the former :)

I am sorry you feel so self conscious about your hair. I went through a phase where I felt like I must be the only woman in Britain who had any pubic hair. Then I had a Hollywood wax and decided it just absolutely wasn’t for me and I’d just have to learn to be happy with a neat bush - which I am now!
