Black tie dinner

Im going to a black tie dinner and I guess I need some reassurance, as it's too late to buy anything at this stage.

My dress is just below the knee and quite elegant, I think, but probably quite plain too. I think it suits me but I worry it might be too low-key. Do I need a clasp bag, by the way, or is it ok to eat no bag at all?

Last time I went to a black tie event, I was the only one in a long dress, wearing red lipstick, etc. I felt incredibly overdressed and thought I looked ridiculous. This time, I'm keen to not dress like that, especially as some of the same people with also be guests at this event. But maybe I'm overdoing it the other way?

What do you think?

You need maybe something spectacular for your neck if dress style allows. I would have a bag. I saw Accessorise have a sale on at the mo and they have masses of bags. My personal favourites are the faux ostrich bags
