Aldi L'Occitane dupes

Anyone else tried the new ( to me ) Aldi Almond Shower Oil and Body Cream ?
If so, your thoughts please.

I was excited to see Aldi were selling a new Almond shower oil, an Almond body cream and Almond body scrub.
Similar packaging (not as luxurious) to L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil and Body Cream, both of which I love but are out of budget for continuous use. I buy them both occasionally. I don't use the body scrub.

The Aldi almond body cream is lovely. I would repurchase. Texture and scent were good.

Not so much the Shower Oil.
It felt, to me very oily and it lacked the gorgeous scent of L'Occitane Almond products. I don't intend to repurchase it.

sound interesting. I'm always a bit suspicious of these things, the ingredients are usually more chemically and lower quality even if the product feels the same so I do wonder about what I am putting on my skin. But not checked these ones or their ingredients.

It says on the packaging that they are produced in the UK so I would presume UK standards are high.

My experience of the Aldi dupes is that what they're really copying is the packaging which makes people go on to think that by virtue the product inside is the same or virtually the same at a far cheaper price. I've never found that to be remotely the case and just don't buy them now as I actually have found it's a waste of money if anything. Yes some are nice products in and of themselves but they'd not fly off the shelves if they weren't effectively using a completely different products (with different ingredients) good reputation to sell them.

I recently tried the copy of the Laura Mercier bubble bath, as ever as a bubble bath it was perfectly fine/quite nice to be faur even but not the same product at all, packaging was cheap and looked it so no sense of luxury and although I didn't buy it (a friend gave me it) all I could think of was that it would be £1 in any other packaging and nobody would be fussed, instead it's £6 or so, for not very much product volume at all. They certainly know what they're doing and dair play I suppose!

Sounds good but can we trust that the ingredients are as skin friendly as l’ occitane

Yep.

Their dupe of the L’Occitane Shea hand cream is virtually indistinguishable, I have both. Only difference is tube, same colour as the L’Occitane one, is a bit smaller & plastic instead of metal. At 69p I’m not complaining
Yet to see the almond things in my branch but a friend who uses the original managed to buy it & likes it.

Thatswhy11 · 02/12/2023 15:40

@rasellagirl you can't seriously expect the same ingredients as the original product but Aldi price? Aldi aren't going to do that are they.

rasellagirl · 02/12/2023 16:17

We don’t know what we are paying for the L’Occitane name

mumonthehill · 02/12/2023 16:20

The Aldi shower gel is not the same, it is not as thick and the scent is not as strong. However it is still lovely and not bad for the price.

Ramsd · 02/12/2023 16:20

I bought all three, agree that the oil isn’t great, quite watery. The scrub is rubbish. But the body cream is really nice and would re purchase.

Do you have picture please? Thank you.

OK for the price. The body oil smells too chemically for me. Body cream isn't rich enough for my dry skin. Quite like the scrub though.

Agree. I think Aldi beauty products - dupes or otherwise - are really over-hyped. You can get better budget products from Collection 2000, Superdrug, Rimmel etc.

allmycats · 02/12/2023 17:14

The shower oil is much ‘thinner’ and not as fragranced, but skin feels soft after use. Need to use a lot more than Loccitane for same amount of soapiness, so it may not be cheaper long term.

Sugarmole · 02/12/2023 17:26

@Darklane you can buy the Shea hand cream online at Aldi under skincare/health and beauty. You can tell from packaging it's Shea dupe.
I didn't like the fragrance so wouldn't buy again.

I do like the Pixi dupe toners..Rose & retinol.

Scaredycatofrodents · 02/12/2023 17:27

I found the Aldi shower oil much thinner but greasier than the L'Occitane.

MadamVastra · 02/12/2023 17:29

Op try QVC they often have great loccitaine deals

deeahgwitch · 28/07/2024 20:23

I see the Aldi L'Occitane dupes are back in store next week in Ireland.
Do you get the same Aisle of Wonder/Aisle of Shit* products in the UK ?
