Long lasting nail polish

I'm getting into nail polish again. A few years back I was in love with OPI and felt their longevity was the best.

But I've been out of the game for years now.

Which brands are the best for not chipping?!

Rimmel Super Gel with topcoat is pretty good. Recently I got an M&S polish (called ‘All in one with argon oil’) which lasted surprisingly well.

I’ve been trying various topcoats as they make the most difference. The OPI one is ok but not amazing. Best one I’ve had was in a set from Champneys and I’ve not managed to replace it.

Essie lasts well for me. I always do a top coat and lasts 5-6 days before it starts chipping.

Avon has been pretty good lately

Recently I am finding Kiko lasts best for me.

Another vote for Essie. Longest lasting, plus good colours.

I'm a qualified nail tech (although I don't work in this field, I only do my own nails atm) so I have lamps and gel polishes, etc, but when I did regular polish nothing ever beat the longevity of Barry M's nail polishes, they're just excellent and half the price of OPI, Essie and all

Highly recommend using Maxfactor Nailfinity Gel topcoat over any favourite nail polish. Lasts really well.

I've never tried BarryM as assumed it would be poor quality as it's on the cheaper end - will give it a go, thanks!

Any OPI Nail Lacquer.

You won't regret. It beats Rimmel, Revlon and any other high end stuff

Another vote for Barry M. The gelly shine ones look like gel and last even through housework for me. I use a base coat.

Talisin · 18/05/2024 17:29

Really recommend Orly Bonder base coat under any varnish. It has a rubberised texture when it dries and varnish sticks to it much better than to your naked nail or any other base coat I’ve tried.
