Nice top for Christmas meals

I need a top for going to Christmas meals in. I haven't bought any evening wear for years!

I'm size 12, slimish but with with a bit of a tummy so can't wear anything too tight but can wear something that shows off my waist. I'm 36. Brown hair. 5'6.

Budget is £70. I would consider a dress but only if I could wear tights with it and know what shoes to go with it. Just a top to go with leggings and block heels maybe seems less hassle!

Please can I have some suggestions? I don't want to look dated.

@HuntingoftheSnark thank you. I have actually got a top just like that already and I've worn it so many times over the years. Good shout but I need something new.

@Jasmin1971 I feel like everything is all about sequins and I don't really do shiny stuff. I think it's hard to make sure it doesn't look tacky.

I don't mind v necks as I've got broad shoulders so it slims me down. I'm small chested so cleavage isn't really my problem!

My latest going out tops are a charcoal sequin shirt, a cream over sized pearl embellished cold shoulder jumper (I don't really like cold shoulder but I love this jumper) and a black silk tunic style top.

@Zaney40 I hate sequins too. I don't like the whole plastic pollution aspect of them as well. Plus then can be hard to look anything but a bit tacky
