Could anyone recommend a really good mascara?

Looking for something waterproof, that gives volume and lift. My most recent one was CT Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes, I found it clumped and smudged a lot (on me, I have friends who love it). My eyes water so much, I need something really waterproof. I'd so appreciate any suggestions

My current fav is Fenty Beauty Hella Thicc mascara.

If you want a cheap mascara, this is one of the best...

Two people asked if I was wearing false eyelashes, which is really weird as I'm an old fart 🤣

I went into Boots the other week and asked the young assistant to recommend a primer for eyelashes and she showed me the one she uses, which is this but a primer

Maybelline sky high for me too

They tend not to give a lot of volume.

So technically you could use a volumising mascara, wait for it to dry then use a tubing mascara to get the waterproofing and length without the crumblines of a waterproof mascara.

That's exactly what I do. Maybelline bounce first then tubing on top (currently a beauty pie one but I'm not a member any more so will go for the no7 next)

I love Clinique High Impact and have used it for years, but the thing I find makes the biggest difference is a primer underneath. Maybelline used to do a great one but I think it's been discontinued. I'm currently using a Rimmel one that works pretty well.

I thought all tubing mascaras wiped away with warm water

BabyPigeon · 30/11/2023 15:08

Yeah I think that all tubing mascaras can be removed with warm water, I mentioned it because it's something I really appreciate, to be able to take it off in the shower with minimal effort.

If your eyes water, don’t get a tubing mascara because the water from your eyes will take it off when you wipe them. Clinique high impact waterproof is great. So is Tarte maneater waterproof.

I used boots No7 (used them, various types through the years) then treated myself to a Charlotte tilbury.

big mistake! Wet, clumpy, too much on the brush. Stuck with it for a week then binned it. It was awful and not worth the hype.

back to No7!

If you have hot flushes do not get a tubing mascara.

You get hot, all the little tubes come off and sit around your eyes resembling ants that have crawled out of your eyeballs.

The memory of me looking at myself in a mirror about ten minutes before an interview will never fade 😱

Benefit’s they’re Real! mascara is really excellent for volume, thickness and non-clumpy eye lashes, but be warned - do not sneeze or even move for a couple of minutes until it dries, or you’ll become a panda.

I dry my eyelashes with a cold hair dryer! Love They're Real! Also when I use Le Volume by Chanel

Beauty Pie Waterproof is my favourite, it doesn't flake, smudge or irritate. I've tried so so many, all price ranges, had high hopes for Revolution because it states it 'holds a curl' but it doesn't!
I use waterproof specifically to set the curl in my lashes after using lash curlers, if I don't my lashes actually point down.
