Strong nails - finally!

I'm ten weeks into a new fitness regime where I've been counting macros and eating high protein (130g per day which is the equivalent of eating 2.5 chicken breasts daily to give context.) 8 weeks in I noticed that my usually paper thin nails had grown and now at 10weeks I have the strongest nails I have ever had in my life. They are seriously tough, for the whole 47 years of life my nails have bent, split and flaked and now I have these super strong nails. I feel cheated that other people with lovely manicures just have these effortlessly strong nails and I never knew. I'm so excited to get them painted and have lovely looking hands (as well as loosing 10lb) for the first time ever.

I thought I'd share for other weak nail sufferers, get in your daily protein smoothies, the difference is phenomenal.

That’s great to hear OP. My nails are a bit crap, it’s good to know just upping the protein in the diet can have such a positive effect. I’m not one for marketing claims on buying tons of topical nail products.

Freesoul, I'm not great with dairy and they have loads of good supplements in. I have one every morning & choose high protein whole foods and the odd protein bar.

Vaseline rubbed in at nighttime will give you strong but supple nails.

I've tried every trick, Vaseline included. Nothing has worked until this high protein regime. I'm still astounded. I wish I knew this 30years ago!

I'm really interested to read this, because I find myself in the same situation. I cut out all the rubbish food, and I'm eating less carbs (and only clean ones when I do), I haven't had any protein powder. I have been taking Vit D, K, B12 and Omega 3. I have no idea which of these things have impacted my nails, but they are so strong now. I started doing all this around the end of August.
