Suddenly aged

Does anyone feel the same?
I'm nearly 60 and, my face in particular, seems to have suddenly aged.
More lines, more sagging, eyes (which were always hooded) now even more so. It suddenly struck me this morning.
I'm sure I looked ok last week.
Body wise, I'm not too bad. Usual aches and pains etc, it's the sudden wrinkles etc.
I've got quite a good skincare regime so I don't think it's that.
Has anyone else looked in the mirror and thinks, oh god what happened?

Yes, same, I'm 58 and suddenly my neck has slightly wrinkled and a sag line has appeared near my mouth. I suppose it has to happen at some point. Knees feel a bit creaky too.

I looked really good at 50, but by the time I hit 53 , looked awful! Hooded lids, under eye bags and a turkey neck! 5 weeks ago I had a neck lift, face lift, eyelids done and eye bags removed. I look so much better. I documented my journey on here. If you search my user name you should be able to find it.

Menopause will probably take a lot of the blame here.

@CollagenQueen oooh fab! Good for you, I love to do that

@blueshoes I'd love to blame it on the meno but that was a good 20 years ago. 😢

One thing I’ve noticed is that being very slim/skinny isn’t flattering in your 50’s Yes, stay at a healthy weight but don’t diet/exercise yourself to skin and bone, it encourages the facial/neck wrinkles! I know a couple people like that IRL and they’re so lined, they’d honestly look better a stone heavier.

Keep looking after yourself OP and get loads of sleep, it makes all the difference.

Tbf, most men in their late 50’s are aging rapidly as well. At least the ones I know (with a couple of exceptions). 😂

Yes, the same thing happened to me. I'm 66 and a couple of years ago my face and the backs of my hands suddenly started to look baggy, saggy, papery and wrinkled. It seemed to happen very quickly, in the space of a few months.

I started using retinol A serum at bedtime and hyaluronic acid serum in the mornings (and rubbing the serum into the backs of my hands) and was surprised by how quickly the skin plumped up and started looking firm again. I only paid a few quid for each little bottle and didn't really expect much, but they must contain whatever it was that I was not longer producing myself because they worked amazingly well.

Well yes I do but I mean come on, I'm 3 years off 70. I'm getting old. What do we expect?
My hip joints are starting to show it too and that's worse.

Sounds amazing. May I ask where you got the Retinol and Hyaluronic acid and the brand?

I went to check out your thread. Thanks for sharing your experience. It was brutal at first but you were healing nicely. Sounds like it was well worth it. I instinctively feel that surgery is the solution for me. I am prepared to suffer short term pain for a more permanent result but not prepared to suffer ongoing discomfort and treatments (like peels, profilho, botox/fillers, laser etc) for moderate results because I am too lazy and low maintenance.

Any chance you can post more 'after' pix. Some folks on the thread were asking for an update.

Nsky62 · 24/11/2023 20:34

It’s a pain, tho at 61 and Parkinson’s, I had hoped for better years ahead
