How to tuck as an apple shape?

It’s that time of year again when I want to bring out the cosy jumpers. I’ve got some lovely knits in colours that suit me but I struggle to get them to sit quite right, especially with jeans. I’m a former hourglass shape who has a defined waist but I’ve developed a belly since having 2 children in quick succession (one’s only 2 months). I’ve got 34HH boobs and find that if I don’t tuck in then my tops just hang from my boobs and make me look like a weeble (I’ve got sizeable hips and thighs).

However, sometimes things tucked in just look wrong. Material can be too bulky, it can draw attention straight to my tummy and I find a French tuck just looks slovenly.

I find a French tuck just looks slovenly. I think it looks awful.
How about nipping one side in at the waist with a kilt pin?

If you wear a belt that can be seen under the french tuck? I am apple shaped, i tuck jumper in a bit at front and leave out at side and i wear a nice belt

Create a more cropped shape using a belt? Belt goes around waist, pull up jumper so some of it flops over and hides belt.

I’ll try that but I thought it might draw more attention to my middle.

My natural waist is very high so I don’t think it would work to use a belt there but it might look nice to do that with a jumper over a dress.

I get you..i thought that until I did it 😁...i wear a statement belt, takes attention away rather than draw attention..and its a very small tuck...6 inch xxx

I struggle with this, I either use a belt minipie says but it doesn’t always work. I tend to wear my clothes on the bagger side so I have started to wear things a bit more form fitting instead of tucking.

I sound like I am almost the same shape as you ( high waisted hourglass but with a stomach after an op). I’d agree with others that most of the time a belt makes the French tuck look so much better with trousers! Mine isn’t a statement ( need to look for others actually) but does have very ‘flat’ buckle.

Skirts i find more tricky - sometimes I fully tuck with those and then pull over if enough material.

Sounds like I’m going to have to invest in a belt! I think any I have are designed to go around my actual waist in dresses so would be much too small.

In reality I think most people with the shape you describe will be doing a French tuck of some sort. Maybe play around with it until you get a version you’re happy with? I couldn’t get on with it at first but then realised I should be aiming more for a blouson effect than a visible tuck.
