Dyeing hair

How often do you go hairdressers for dyeing your greys out or for any colour change for that matter? How do you afford it? It costs well over £100/£150 odd for cut and colour in London salons. I have read meant to go every 6 weeks so roots don’t show. It’s a lot of money to be doing that every 6 weeks. Do you go that often? I like going hairdressers but don’t want to spend that kind of money that often for hair, but then I find it a faff using dye at home to save money.

I go every 4 to 5 weeks. I’m about 40% grey. I find if I go up to the five week mark that last week I’m having to excessively use the root spray.

I only pay £40 for my roots. In Covid, I used to buy the packet root colours, but they didn’t cover like whatever my Hairdresser uses.

I've trained DH to do my roots for me at home. I pay £2.50 every 2/3 months.

Embrace the grey?

I go 3-4 weeks. £27. In between for my roots I bought the professional colours off Amazon my hairdresser uses just to keep the front dark.

Maybe I will have to embrace the grey @ShanghaiDiva Trying to leave it as long as I can though! I find myself letting all the roots show until I can take no more. I must be one of the few who leave it so long between visits to the salon

I was exactly the same and got fed up with the expense and the fact that after two weeks you could see silver roots.

Your hair looks fabulous grey! @ShanghaiDiva Mine is at the stage where not every hair is grey so wouldn’t look as good as yours if I decided to go natural instead of dye
