Beauty Advent Calendars 2023 Part E - Last Buying Thread Till Doors Open

Roll up, roll up for bargain spotting and anticipation.

This is a thread to discuss the buying of beauty calendars and not the opening of them. There may be general discussion about contents of a calendar but please do not share information about what is behind a specific door you've opened. Thank you

@Puravida23 IMO that's a really decent GWP, thanks for pointing it out. I'm still not sure I can justify the spend but only cos I'm on a self-imposed buying ban

Helluvawomen · 10/12/2023 23:06

That looks like a Great GWP

antone seen any decent gifts about £25 mark. Last year I got a good 3 for 2 on neom stuff that were great gifts for my team. Anything similar around?

Branster · 11/12/2023 10:58

Bridal Beauty last mystery box of the year £40 including postage.
I think I'm bridal beautied out, this is the 2nd offering I'm not tempted by. I can't quite believe it. Have I been cured? Addiction gone?

Ha ha ha!!! Same here!! Very proud of myself when I read and deleted the email 😊

Branster · 11/12/2023 19:38

@Emmmmz9 you are made of stronger stuff than me 😁 I haven't thought of deleting the email, or any bookmarks on my phone. I shall follow your example and delete everything I can!

Stoic123 · 11/12/2023 20:43

@Puravida23 - it is a great GWP and I love EGF...but I'm going to have to pass (sob). I am committed to stash reduction.

If anyone is interested, MSE have a deal for the Ciate 'Superpower' box, including the eyeshadow palette that was in the Glossybox AC. Brings the cost down to £28 instead of £45. Code is SUPERPOWER

QueefofSheena · 12/12/2023 21:56

Free delivery too apparently

Puravida23 · 12/12/2023 22:06

Possibly the last Advent deal of the year. NAP have reduced their advent by 30% and the code EXTRA15 gets another 15% so it gets it down to £164.
Anyone tempted?

Puravida23 · 12/12/2023 22:08

Forgot to say the extra 15% is short time only whatever that is!

I don't think so. Some years ago I bought the first NAP calendar and it was a thrill...the first intro to Costa Brazil, for instance. Exciting!

But it has been left behind as a calendar...it needs to seek out unheard of yet GOOD brands and it will rake it in.

Once it declared they were going with a gift set, that signalled defeat. And who wants to give money to the losing side?

Puravida23 · 12/12/2023 22:24

yeah I feel similar. I got NAP 2 years ago and loved it I think it ranks as my favourite advent ever . It just had everything I used. Last year was such a disappointment and now we have this hybrid this year. I actually wonder if it will go lower than £164

It is such a disappointment as it was one of the first to show us plebs that luxury beauty CAN be within our reach.

MidnightMeltdown · 12/12/2023 22:42

I'm not tempted at all by NAP. At £275, it was hugely overpriced in the first place

I think that it may go lower. Last year I picked it up for about £110 in January

Helluvawomen · 12/12/2023 23:23

Thanks to whoever posted about the GWP cult beauty. Made up with mine

Emmmmz9 · 13/12/2023 06:20

Has anybody used Bioeffect EGF serum?
Is it as good as people say?

Emmmmz9 · 13/12/2023 11:28

@Branster please stop bridal beauty! I’m going to cave! 😂

😂😂😂 @Emmmmz9
Stay strong! You can get through this!
One at a time. Hopefully they sell out soon enough and no more temptation until 2024.
I've messed about with LiB combinations of boxes on their website and tiktok (I must close TikTok account). I kept getting really good prices but I still haven't ordered anything yet.
We can do it!!!!

kerstina · 15/12/2023 10:55

I got the flannels cracker in the end ! Totally addicted to buying these things after this thread and the you tube unboxing . I suggested if my husband gave me £30 ( he gave me £50) towards the cracker we could give the perfume and luxury shower gel for his mums Xmas present . Well it has come and he has had the Olapex for her too. I was hoping to try that myself but never mind .Whats it actually like? Pleased with the Charlotte Tilbury palette and the lipstick feels nice.

pinkchampagne1 · 15/12/2023 15:50

I have just had an email to say the OK Christmas box is now £39. Must resist!

Argh. I looked at it, and there are items that I would love to try and couldn't otherwise justify (skin care bits). My daughter will have the makeup happily. So I ordered it.

Did manage to resist the subsequent 'mystery box' offer from them for £13, supposedly worth £130 ... I like to know what I'm getting.

Stoic123 · 16/12/2023 21:37

So - checking in. How everyone is enjoying their calendars so far?

Mine is the By Terry one. I'm not overly enamoured and think I'll be back with John Lewis next year (if I can resist spending too much on beauty Jan-Sept). I might even buy JL next year without looking at the contents list.

I have Boots ultimate and am happy enough with it so far.
