Vinted / Evri parcels missing

JustbemoreMargo · 21/11/2023 08:47

After some advice, relatively new to Vinted but have bought and sold many items without issue for about 2 months. I have now been contacted by 2 recent buyers that haven't received their items.

One is clearly tracked as delivered to the buyer on Evri. The buyer seems angry with me in messages (eg demanding to know where it is) although I've explained I have no extra information than what is documented by Evri and also on the Vinted tracking on the website, both which they are also able to access. The item is worth less than £5.

The second buyer's parcel is listed as being 'out for delivery' for days. They seem reasonable and understand it is not me who has lost the item.

I suggested they raise it with vinted as my understanding is they should be refunded (though I'm sad if I get bad feedback when I've done nothing wrong).

Would be grateful for any experienced Vinted users if any further advice, as strangely both buyers were initially apparently instructed by Evri to 'contact sender' though I am baffled as to what extra information I would have when the tracking shows where the parcel went after I sent it... such an odd request but want to make sure there is not anything else specifically that I need to do. Both these items as low value and I'm only selling to clear out the wardrobe (I'm not a business seller) so i certainly don't want to be losing sleep and spending hours chasing Evri for their incompetence...

Is there a picture of where the first one was delivered to?

Both buyers need to click the i button on the top right and raise and issue with Vinted. Vinted will take it up/investigate it with Evri.
You can reassure your buyer that they will receive a refund if the parcel is missing.
There isn't more you can do. Unfortunately some people are not understanding that it is out of your control once it's sent. All you and the buyer can do is ask Vinted to step in and help.

As they were sent via Evri (as opposed to Royal Mail) delivery issues are dealt with between Vinted & Evri

A package that has been left outside will ultimately be refunded to the buyer and your payment will be released to you
* the difference would be if a buyers Vinted delivery’s regularly go missing - I had one that was delivered to the doorstep which just took a few days longer between Evri & Vinted then refunded & paid out

A package that is pending will take longer to allow for it to turn up or finally be assessed as lost, and again refunded & paid out

If they are raised as a delivery issue by the buyer then Vinted ought to be asking for photos and/or a description of the packages to be given to Evri
If it’s just a back and forth messaging issue then it’ll carry on until Vinted time out the ‘delivered’ item

I bought a pair of gloves on Vinted and they didn’t turn up. They were sent with yodel who I tried to contact through their chat. The tracking got as far as my regional depot but then said they had been damaged (no idea how you damage gloves) but then they back pedaled and told me only the seller/sender could raise the issue and I could get no further so I messaged the seller and Vinted. Eventually after the time they give for delivery Vinted refunded both me and the seller and presumably claimed from yodel so you will hopefully still get your money but it will take a bit of hassle probably.

No picture on the Evri website, just that it was delivered

Thanks for replies above.
Frustrating process it would seem.
I don't really understand what the seller can really do in liaising with Evri - either they find the package or they don't. It seems like they are trying to play for time and pass on any responsibility. Both packages are clearly logged along their journey in tracking so it's a courier issue not a sender issue surely. If they were never registered as sent that would be a different matter.

Also when trying to raise the issue with Evri on the website, the automatic chatbot assumes you are the buyer/receiver and wants to confirm the receivers contact details (inc email!) which is not helpful. And I'm not prepared to waste more money on hold trying to call them.

Thanks again everyone. I will wait for Vinted to respond...

I had the same problem but mine was Yodel, also Vinted though. Just do exactly as the other poster says -let your buyer know that they need to inform Vinted and that Vinted will then contact Evri and take it from there. Worth letting them know can be slow -it was over 6 weeks before Yodel and Vinted settled on their course of action. In my case, like yours, the courier had marked it as delivered but the buyer said it hadn't been. End result was that I refunded as seller but I think they decided against my buyer, which was a shame for her as it's quite possible the parcel was pinched from her shared hallway. I'll add that I got a Vinted message early on saying my buyer had raised a 'not as described' claim -but i think that was an error on Vinted's part. I replied to the message from Vinted and told them it should be a 'not delivered' claim and i did get a human response saying not to worry it was in hand ( bit more chatty so I knew it was not an auto response). Good luck!

How did the refund process work out for you? Did vinted advise you had to refund (and was that straightforward), or did vinted just sort it out (as there is insurance paid on the items). Also did you get paid for the item you sent?

No I didn't refund -that was all dealt with by Vinted. I just waited and let them do their enquiries and informed my poor buyer that that was what Vinted were doing and I couldn't do any more. She was very understanding but I do feel sorry for her as not her fault.
Yes I was paid for my item as Vinted credited me with that.
Basically you do nothing because you have used a Vinted generated label. It's for Vinted to sort out and you don't need to do anything - in fact you can't do anything as the contract for courier is actually between Vinted and Courier not you and courier

It will be the same as when sending to the buyer.

Insurance / guarantee as per Vinted/Evri standard policies.
(Item valuation would be dependant on the sale price - if sold at £800 then that’s the transaction valuation as opposed to retail value etc)

Lost in transit / stolen would be subject to a level of checking to find it etc, and if the sale price was £800 Vinted & Evri might be a bit more keen in their search

I've found vinted to be pretty poor in support for sellers.

A woman bought a low cost item off me and I assume inpost mixed up the parcels as she received a completely different item to what I sent.

Vinted refunded her and I was left out of pocket despite me explaining that I'd sent the correct item and there had clearly been a mix up on the delivery side.

I definitely wouldn't risk selling anything expensive on there.
