Looking great with nowhere to go!

Have noticed this often, on days when I have nothing pressing and don't have to go out, my skin is radiant, my hair behaves itself and I look fabulous.
Less so on the days where I am due in public.
It happens so often, over time, that it reminds me of the way toast will usually always fall buttered side down Grin
It's the murphy's law of style and beauty, surely?

I made some small alterations to a coat this morning, had barely brushed my hair and no make up. Was also bringing a few winter items out to try on, and looked positively glowing in the mirror - the self same mirror that will make me look like a rats arse come tomorrow morning.

Same!

There's only one thing for it - on the days you are looking uh-may-zing you'll have to take yourself out!

I should get a dog for impromptu outings! The cat won't help.

Ha I have puzzled this phenomenon for years.

I've decided it's not actually what you objectively look like, it's that you feel under less pressure/lower your standards when it's just you, in your house. It's the only way I have been able to explain it.

Often when I'm trying on clothes, just me, I like an outfit but if I put it on one morning suddenly not so keen. Same phenomenon.

You definitely should. I take mine out for dates. We go to the cinema and coffee or lunch.

Haa! I will try.

But my skin looks more peachy today, flawless, after 5 hours miserable sleep!

Yes, I get this too - it's weird.

Particularly the glowy skin thing - I use tretinoin and mostly my skin looks nice and dewy but I still occasionally get bouts of peeling, of course this happens on mornings when I'm in the office, having worked from home for the previous few days without a whiff of peeling and nobody to notice my lovely complexion - very annoying!
