Totally new makeup after 5 years of not wearing - what's good?!

Hi all,

So at one point long ago I was quite stylish, but after 2 kids and a pandemic I'm now definitely not...New job starts in Jan and my makeup bag is all crusts and cobwebs! So I need to start again.

I used to use:

  • Liz Earle sheer skin tint
  • YSL Touche Eclat
  • Laura Mercier eyebrow pencil

Then just curl my eyelashes and whack on some waterproof black mascara and a v small amount of generic pinkish lipgloss.

Are these products still good? Has anyone got new recommendations for similar products - or new things I'm not using?

FWIW I've got sensitive/rosacea-y skin but none of these flared me up...

Thanks for any thoughts!

I’ve never used Liz earl skin tint but Erborian bb cream is amazing, really light but skin looks flawless. They do a cc cream too, but I found even the lightest shade of that made me look orange!

I've been using:
-rimmel tinted moisturiser and concealer
-maybelline under eye concealor
-benetint blush and lip stain
-nyx Brow pencil
-Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow
-Loreal lash telescopic mascara
-kvd tattoo eyeliner

Lasts for me all day and nice light finish.

I used to use the ysl touché eclat but i find the maybelline is better for me because it's paler and I prefer the finish and the price!

I've been using nyx setting spray and it's great as well.

I really like Charlotte tilbury makeup.
I’ve liked almost everything I’ve ever bought. It’s mid priced so definitely cheaper dupes around but also what I’ve got and used has been excellent quality and not needed too much skill to apply. Cream products blend well. I don’t use eyeshadow so I can’t comment on those. And I did find the mascara I had (actually probably still own and needs binning now) was very black but did end up smudging under my eyes by the end of the day but I’m quite oily and I don’t really take the time to powder etc.
Have loved the beautiful skin foundation recently, glowy but I do a little blot after applying and within about half an hour of settling down it just leaves my skin looking really radiant and, well, beautiful!

I vote for eborium too plus Daniel Sandler blusher, hourglass dim light powder is nice but ££ and the purple boots mascara.

My favourite products at the moment are:
Trinny Just A Touch concealer - can be worn alone for light makeup
For an all day wear foundation Estée Lauder Double Wear mixed with primer or Iconic glow lotion applied with a flat head buffing brush (Morphe or Iconic)
Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer 2
Clinique Cheek Pop powder blusher or Trinny Lip 2 Cheek cream blusher/lip tint
Beauty Pie One Powder Wonder and Waterproof Mascara
MAC eyeshadow in Groundwork
Elf eyebrow pencil
Surratt eyelash curlers
Benefit 24hr eye pencils
Huda lip pencils
Wear lots of lipsticks but always come back to Estée Lauder, Clinique Chubby Stick in Mighty Mimosa or Ultraglow Lip Stains
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray
