Fringe failure

Name change. How terrible is my self cut fringe? I know I should have seen a hairdresser and I plan to go to one asap to correct but they were all busy and I thought: why not? I'm too old for this silliness. I should have known. I have dinner soon. Should I pin it back?

With a bit of styling it'll look fine. It's a good length and thickness. Do you have a big round round brush to blow dry it so there's not the parting in the middle.

Fringefailure · 18/11/2023 16:38

Yes I did already but it keeps reparting. I'll try again.

I've recently had a hairdresser cut a fringe for me. Yours looks like mine did in the first week. Every time I wash my hair I 'train' the fringe with a brush and hairdryer. Ans between washes I dampen it and do the same. It's starting to lose the 'curtain' look. Yours will too

It takes a while to reteach your hair how to sit.
Spend time focused on drying it with a big round brush. It'll learn. Davina's hairdresser bloke did an insta tutorial on drying a fringe that I follow and find works.

@Fringefailure this is the trick (watch from 3:10mins)

It's nowhere as bad as when I last cut a fringe it rolled up into a barrel curl. Best way to work it out is to imagine a sausage stuck horizontally to your forehead.

ChocolateCakeOverspill · 18/11/2023 17:07

Style it by brushing it all to one side while drying it and then to the other side, the use the barrel brush to curl straight down. Finish with straighteners if it’s too curled.

Thanks ladies, I actually did go out with my hair like in the OP- had to dash to dinner. DH joked that he'd have to sit at a separate table 🙄

None of you seem absolutely horrified so I suppose that's something.

Will blow dry it every day and try to get to a salon.

I don't know what happened but I was trying to do a subtle long curtain fringe and then before I knew it it was right up over my eyebrows and I had to commit to a full- if wonky- fringe.

The great thing about hair, OP, is it grows! And my new fringe is growing like mad! I've already had to give it a trim myself.
And I love it. Hope you love yours soon!
